After waiting 7 hours for a 45 minute procedure my ride was told to leave the building as he was going to call the police because they complained that they had been waiting over 2 hours after being called and told I was ready to leave. He put me in a room and had skyped me a 3rd party to try to sell me items I did not want to get. Every visit was over 6 hours and I was stuck in a room for 5 hours behind closed doors. No one came to tell me what was going on. All personnel working there were very rude as well as Dr. Chavin himself. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Chavin was expert at injections and I had been to other doctors including St. Marys and Dr. Harris and his injections did the best for me. He is very strict and won't tolerate any bs from the patients. There is a very serious drug problem in the Morristown area, I applaud Dr. Chavin's efforts to control the epidemic of drug abuse and drug diversion. Thank you, Dr. Chavin!

My appointment was at 1 & He didnt see me until nearly 3. He came in the room, apologised for being late, I was polite and told him it was okay. He then began to verbally abuse me, yelling and screaming at me, saying that I was either abusing or selling my medications. I was stunned! This was my very first visit with him! My medications werent off & the count was exactly what it was suppposed to be. After nearly 30 minutes of listening to him berate & belittle me with absolutely no provocation at all he calmed down and said it was because of my age group. I, still being a gentleman, told him that I understood that there are alot of people out the abusing prescription pain medicines and that I understood why he had to be so strict. So in responce he began yelling, screaming & threatening me. I wouldnt recommend this pompous ass to my worst enemies. He has deep rooted anger management problems!

I didn't it was illegal to keep meds in a pill reminder in my purse. It seemed I came up short 'til I took those out. I was attacked by staff (4 members) who acted as if I was holding out. My count was fine, but I got a formal warning. I was crying like a baby. I felt I should have gotten an explanation because I truly didn't know. I'm bipolar; it took me forever - nearly 3 yrs. of being bedridden before someone accepted me & I was never actually short on my meds, but at my last appt., we just filed bankruptcy, lost our house, one vehicle, I found out my sister has advanced cancer 2 days before; and we moved into a mobile home 2 weeks before - my whole life in dissaray; I forgot some meds at home like an idiot, but I asked if my spouse could go get them while I waited. They took over 1/2 hr. to tell me that he COULD, leaving 45 min. for him to go a 1 and 1/2 hr. distance. I got a 74 yr. friend to come partway; still too late. Out I went. After they almost locked me in the building.

You would be in less pain to not even see this doctor. His idea of "pain management" is to keep persons in pain. Horrible.

Dr Michael Chavin is an excellent pain management doctor, extremely knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. I overheard a hospital staff person in the surgery unit say to another staff person once that "Dr. Chavin is very protective of his patients" and I have found this a true statement. It is true that he can be loud and seem angry if he thinks you are abusing your medications in any way but I think this is necessary due to the nature of the practice. Everytime you see Dr. Chavin your pills are counted and you best not be short or you'll get a chewing out, no doubt. He has to not only protect himself but he is also protecting the patient because the narcotics many receive from the clinic are highly addictive and subject to illegal activities. So I don't mind so much when I hear the person in the next room getting a chewing out. The only problem I have with the office is the staff members. They are hateful, hateful, hateful.

I don't understand why he is listed as "Pain Management" in his specialty. The State of Tennessee says he is an anesthesiologist. There is no listing that he is board certified in Pain Management which is a recognized board certification.
