I was recommended to Dr. Dershowitz by a co-worker and I am very sorry I ever went to his office or ever placed my trust in him. I have spent the past year trying to recover from the two surgeries he performed on me within a two-month period...which was two too many. He does not take into consideration the debilitating results of his actions. He had me walk out of the operating room in a boot that was two sizes too big, after he had just cut the BOTTOM of my foot to remove a benign tumor that was between my toes. My foot may never recover from his actions, but I have spent thousands trying to do so.

Going to Dr. Dershowitz was a huge mistake!! He was extremely late coming to my exam room and typed on his computer the entire time. All the rooms were full and every single door was open so everyone could hear what was going on with the patient next door. He recommended surgery right off the bat and was very pushy about it, even after I told him I wasn't comfortable with it and wanted to try more conservative treatment. I will not go back!!!

I also agree that Dr. Dershowitz is a caring and knowledgable doctor. I was at the Phoenix office and I was seen as soon as I could. He explained the x-rays, ultrasound, and surgery procedure in depth many times. He explained to me what to expect-pain, recovery, etc. I am currently recovering very well from a bunionectomy/hammertoe surgery/neuroma removal that I had 7/13/12. He is a good doctor and I would recommend him.

Dr.Dershowitz is a very nice, caring doctor that took the time to explain my problem. He addresed all my questions and was really able to help me. I would recommend him to anyone with a foot problem; he has a great office and a great attitude towards his patients.

I read some of these other reviews and can't believe they're speaking of the same Dr. Dershowitz who treated me. I have never met such a caring, compassionate and knowledgeable doctor. He corrected my bunion, explained the procedure and we discussed my expectations, and the results were fabulous. Much less pain than he told me that I should expect. I would recommend him highly to anyone with any kind of foot problem. I've seen many doctors, and no one spent the time to explain my problem and discuss my xrays. To read that another supposed patient wrote that he refused to discuss xrays, is more than bizarre. In addition, his staff is very professional and caring. I saw Dr. Dershowitz at his Phoenix office and the staff noticed the difficulty I was having walking and politely offered to use their transportation chair to get me to the exam room. Certainly contrary to any negative postings!

I am a diabetic. I had an ingrown toe nail. Waited an 45 minutes for Dr. to come into room-assistant walked by several times. Dr. looked at toe asked what kind of insurance -ordered X rays. He showed me x rays and recommended surgery for bone spur under nail. X-ray was poorly done and I could not see what he was talking about. I wanted my ingrown toe nail taken care of. Dr.Dershowitz said I would have to make another appointment because I had on nail polish. I had been in the office 2 hours and no one thought to mentioned that?? Totally out for the $$$ and poor service. Run the other way. I called Cigna and because he is contracted- Cigna will pay. But I am sending a letter of complaint and hopefully Cigna will drop him. Dr. Dershowitz is a perfect example of why insurance rates are so high.

Dr. Derschowitz approached my hammertoe condition initially with a pocket full of cortizone syringes insisting the bursa sac was where the problem lay. He was dismissive when I complained about his rough application and I refused further shots after the third time. After providing a complete medical history which included my having Parkinsons (and spasms), he scheduled surgery to remove the bad joint and clean up the mess around the toes he created. Upon resectioning the toe, he sewed it on crooked and it now rests on the neighboring toe which is now doubled under with me walking on the nail. He also put me in a huge boot like athelets wear (I'm 5'2" - 135 lbs)and I have since learned there are appropiately sized boots I could have had. I will not go into the pain, inconvenience, and disruptiveness this has caused me and continues to this day. At 6 mo's he owned, "Botching it" and suggested further surgery. I never set foot in there again.

I made my appointment with Dr. Dershowitz since I had a recommendation from a co-worker. Well, when I arrived for my appointment the waiting room was full and I waited one hour to see the doctor. Once in the little room they put you in, the doctor's assistant wanted to xray my feet with a very antiquated machine, did not have an x-ray apron to put on and assured me it was ok. Then once Dr. Dershowitz came into the examining room he sat down with his laptop and asked me if I mind if he types while we talk. He did not say much, he picked up my x-rays and threw them back down on the table. I asked his if he would put the x-rays on the light table so he could explain to me my diagnosis and he said "I am the doctor and you do not need to see your xrays" After asking repeatedly he finally put the xrays up on the lighted table. Then he said he would like to set up another appointment to discuss surgery. He does not do surgery in Scottsdale. I never went back. I suggest you stay away.

Dr. Dershowitz completed a bunionectomy on my left foot. I did not regain range of motion in this area and upon a second opinion at UCLA, was told that he performed a procedure (i.e., severed tendons) that should not have been done. I have severe pain in this area and the bunion has returned.
