This is a goddess surgeon. As an ex-nurse, I am a very difficult, picky patient, and I wanted something only a really competent up-to-date surgeon will tackle (multiple myomectomy). Acknowledging that this was my choice, both Dr. Rychel and her 4th yr resident were wonderful. She was exceedingly compassionate and took into account my needs and worries throughout. The results of the surgery were and are fabulous. As to the lateness: specialists are always late, but in this case it's because Dr. Rychel is actually spending time with other patients -- she doesn't rush the appointment. Take a book or your ipod.
Dr Rychel is excellent! Because of the expense of meter parking in Vancouver it would be helpful if they could be more punctual. My appointment was about a half hour late. She is a great Doctor or I might never return because her staff is deplorable. I too experienced a VERY unprofessional incident where her staff not only ignored me when I came in, but continued on with her personal conversation. When she was finished she didn't even acknowledge my presence. I had to go up and ask her if she was aware I was there. She instructed me that the receptionist on the OTHER side of the desk (who also ignored me when I came in) was the person I was supposed to check in with. The two of them bantered back and forth complaining about other patients and people who called in. I hope she checks these posts and realizes what goes on in her office.
Dr. Rychel is extremely knowledgeable and well-spoken. She'll explain everything about what's going on inside your body, but for the most part only if you ask. She does a lot of listening and writing, so sometimes the appointments seem awkwardly silent. When I went for my surgery, I was left practically naked with four strangers surrounding me in a freezing operating room that had huge windows into the hall. They put me under, and I never saw Dr. Rychel. After the surgery it became apparent that a vessel in my abdomen had been severed and blood was spreading under my skin. Dr. Rychel took time to speak with me on the phone and immediately accepted me for an emergency appointment. When she said "oh, they must have severed a vessel" I started wondering who really did my surgery. Overall she is an extremely pleasant, caring doctor.
Dr. Rychel may be a good Dr. but the staff never answers the phone or returns a call and could really care less about any of the patients. Even sitting in the waiting room you can hear the staff talk about the patients when they leave and complain about all of them. I would never go back to her. She has to realize that she is still a business and you need clients/patients to stay afloat
Dr. Rychel was my doctor for all 3 of my pregnancies and delivered 2, the middle one came early... Great bedside manner, answers all your questions, CALM!! and able to put everyone at ease even during stressful situation. I almost want to have another baby so I can have her as my doc again... I said 'almost' :)
She's excellent -- very thorough and caring. She is not condescending like many other physicians and does not try to rush appointments. She took the time to listen and respond to all of my questions and concerns. My pregnancy went well and she was even on call the night I delivered my son!
Dr.Rychel is my angel. She was my OBGYN through a very difficult pregnancy that left me in the hospital for 7 months solid. She was by my bedside every day. She listened to all my concerns and feelings. She never rushed me or made me feel like I was just a patient on her list of things to do. She was deeply compassionate. She did everything she possibly could to ease my suffering, and because of her dedication to my illness, I survived and have a beautiful son. I was truly blessed to have her as a doctor. I can not say enough good things about Dr.Rychel. She deserves a medal! Thank you Dr.Rychel!
I had two experiences with her. The first visit with her was good , she looked caring and concerned . But the next visit she was rushing me through and didn't seem concerned or interested or confident about my situation... and overall her advise that I should wait to see how my fibroid symptoms get better or worse wasn't useful and I needed a more aggressive approach given my anemia. Especially because my fibroid was located in a way that would need a surgery anyway ;
Dr. Rychel is one of the best dr's I have ever seen. She is very knowledgeable & helpful. It seems as though she really cares about me & my situation and is helping in every way possible. There should be more dr's like Dr. Rychel!
Dr Rychel performed emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy and has been extremely helpful ever since. Referring me to specialists in the area of fertility and just being a knowledgable, yet down to earth ob/gyn. She is well known and respected in her field.
