For dehydration and pregnancy problems, they took longer then I wished to address my questions. When my fuild bag was empty, it sat there and the tube in my arm for another 1 hour and half before taking it out. I am not a medical professional, nor do I have an experience or knowledge regarding this stuff. I just wished they would have communicated more.
You can tell them a hundred times that morphine doesn't work, and they'll use it anyway....it won't work, and instead of addressing your surgical pain, they'll just insist you must have a drug tolerance...or be a druggie...even though you've never been either. Instead of fixing the pain, they treat you like you're a liar. YOU SAY MORPHINE NEVER WORKS FOR ME, THEY GIVE IT TO YOU ANYWAY, THEY CHARGE YOU FOR IT, AND IT ALL FALLS ON THE SICKLY PATIENT....EVEN WHEN YOU TELL THEM THIS HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME..... they REFUSE TO LISTEN TO THEIR OWN PATIENTS. IT IS HORRIBLE HERE. Pick any other hospital.
Came in for surgery, scheduled well in advance of visit. Hospital confirmed time the evening prior. Had a one hour and 20 minute drive. Left with enough time to be 40 minutes early and had pre-registered. The same day surgery center called several times after I had already left for my scheduled time and insisted that I come earlier. There was not much I could do after already on the road, except worry. Once there, (at the surgery center in person and checked in a FULL 40 MIN EARLY), I was told I would be "rushed through" to surgery and when starting my IV, that the nurse would "hurry up and get that started". This caused extreme anxiety and elevated blood pressure, to nearly 200 over 140. This was my first time under anesthesia and first surgery. I was scared to death at this point to go into surgery, feeling that my procedure would be rushed and mistake made with my health or a secondary issue from the blood pressure and stress. I asked at this point to have it rescheduled for a time they were NOT RUSHED and I could receive appropriate care. This request was brushed aside and not taken seriously or addressed by the charge nurse or any admin staff. After surgery and once in my room, the alarms were constantly sounding on the leg cuffs and no matter how many times I called the nurse, not fixed. My IV was not capped and dropped on the ground before reconnected which did not seem sanitary to me. Other nurses capped and secured the port. Night nurse missed requests for pain medication twice and did not keep track on the white board for the next shift nurse. The nurse the next morning said I was one of several patients with that same issue the night before and proceeded to tell us how overbooked with surgeries the hospital was - and they were overflowing to the maternity c-section rooms. Poor turnover instructions (none given) from nurse to nurse and shift to shift. Sent a male CNA to assist with first walk who had to help me put on mesh panties and adjust a pad - I should have been asked if I was comfortable with male assistance for personal aftercare from my female surgery. My door was left open with my gown pulled complete up exposing me. Also, my husband had planned to rest at home after I was settled and come back to pick me up. He wound up sleeping on the floor to help me since night nurse was non-responsive and things had not gone well with my after care. He was not offered a pillow or blanket. I wish my surgeon had been more concerned with the care I was receiving (or in this case, not receiving) in the hospital so that these issues could be addressed. He did not check in with me after surgery. Once the report was given to my husband, there was no additional follow up from him. Just received a $20,000+ bill from the hospital (for a same-day surgery), which does not include anesthesia or surgeon fees with no details or explanation of charges. Poor, poor care, billing and service any way you look at it. Unfortunately, I just read through all the other reviews and should have taken the time before allowing the doctor's office to schedule my surgery, but I trusted my surgeon. Looks like the same issues I had are ongoing with many patients and have not been addressed or corrected by administration. So disappointing. I am going to do more research on making a formal complaint. If anyone else know which agencies or how to do this, please comment and let me know. I don't think these deficiencies should continue to be unaddressed.
I delivered my third child at Ogden Regional. They would not let my husband stay with me when I first came in because they wanted to question me about him. My baby was under some stress, but they did not tell me that. They just waited a long time for the doctor to come. Had they told me, I may have asked for a different doctor to just deliver the baby. They did not allow my other children to come visit. (This was in March.) The bed was extremely uncomfortable. It hurt my tailbone. The room was very cold. The room was huge and the remote to the TV did not work. Luckily I only had to stay one night.
My wife was treat with disrespect and unethical practices by the women's center. They were very rude and had a condescending aarogant attitude towards their patients. They don't see their patients as individuals, they only see them as cattle that they are pushing threw to turn a profit. They are more interested in boosting there ego than caring for there patients feelings.
