Better watch your valuables.....while my mom was dying of ovarian cancer she was taken from w&i over to Rhode Island hospital for a procedure. They taped her ruby cross necklace on her saying it was unnecessary to remove....she was brought back to woman and infants ....no necklace...no body knows what happened to it....no offer from hospital to even have a tracking of belongings put in place so this would not happen to anyone else. :/. She wore that cross for 25 years straight....she's wearing it in every picture I look at....she died distraught about its whereabouts...hopefully whoever stole it made good use of it. How could you??? Sickening.
I urge everyone to stay away from this hospital. Their MDs are for the most part unprofessional and their facility can't accommodate the amount of patients. I had pain for a year and a half and everytime I went to rih they told me I was stressed and my pain in my upper right abdominal region was all in my head never referring me to any specialists. Finally after 7 visits to Rih I found my own GI doctor and my gallbladder was infected. I had to have surgery to remove my gallbladder. I was then refered to a surgeon at rih to perform my gallbladder surgery and when I met with him he was extremely inappropriate and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I then asked to schedule my surgery with a female dr and they said they don't allow people to switch surgeons within their practice, even though the female surgeon had her office in a different hospital. LIFESPAN, get it together.
I was brought in by ambulance due to heart/back and abdominal pain. They left me in the waiting area for over an hour and then someone named Pedro came over with a security guard to find out why I was there. Outraged Nd unable to get a reasonable answer as to why when I opened my eyes; there was a security guard there instead of the medical assistance I came for. Needless to say after hearing all the fun and laughter in the admitting area; I left. By the way Miriam Hospital found that I have a tumor. Thanks Rhode Island Hospital.
this is such a hidden gem in southern new england.coop building trauma center and jane brown unit doctos, nurses, cna's,all associated staff are really professional, friendly, patient oriented, and really want you to recover.I specially commend the doctor Berges,Clinical social worker Chantal Brown and all the supporting staff they are the best rhode island has to offer may be even new england.keep up the good work.wish hospital spend more resources on jane nrown and stop treating it like a step child
First the positive- most of the hospital is clean and the patient rooms have been upgraded in the past 5 years or so. If you are having heart trouble or major trauma, this is the place to be. Most of the nursing staff is dedicated and caring, with many years of experience. The bad- The ER is overcrowded with illegals seeking primary care, ****s and gangbangers. If your doctor can admit you directly, you would be much better off. Some staff look and act like thugs, and others have limited english skills. There has been problems with wrong site surgeries in the past few years, many involving neurosurgery. The psychiatric department is not recommendated, go to Butler if you need it. A definite mixed bag here.
