I was rushed by ambulance with a brain bleed..I was on blood thinners and had a bad fall and hit my head. This type of injury usually is fatal. The doctors there were The head neurologist never did this type of surgery and didn't know what to do. He and my substitute doctor didn't want a second opinion and kept me there for 12 days before my family had enough of their incompetents and rushed me to Monmouth hospital where they did the surgery immediately. They saved my life.

Given this hospital is in a very Senior citizen filled area, it is astounding they are not licensed to perform any sort of serious interventional never mind major cardiac surgery. On the Value front, they tend to want to keep people who have good insurance coverage in their building as long as possible even though it is far from necessary. Diagnostic testing machines are unplugged at rather early hours so if say a CT scan is needed it will be offered as the last of all tests done so that that one area could if you went along with it, "require" an over night stay so someone qualified would show up the next day and turn the machine on. They attempt to maximize the beds in their facility to the detriment of health insurance companies, government health care programs, etc. who in most cases are paying for those often unneeded inpatient stays. There is equipment in private hands very nearby for more timely testing or one might prefer to sleep at home and return to the hospital to utilize their equipment which isn't the newest the next day. This run around trips me up because I atypically have three insurance policies and they do their best to max my stay out but for their benefit - not mine. I realize some people are sick enough to almost have to stay overnight but I always seem to be able to walk right in and then walk right out in spite of the attempts to shame me into following their program Also very quick to provide stacks of forms to be signed with no time for patients to begin to read what they are signing without making quite a fuss. This hospital needs to be for the first time aligned with the more common needs of the population that surrounds it. Then further tweaking of the system itself would push those areas that work under what used to be called "bankers hours" to the forefront of the visit so that people could actually get the tests they need efficiently and cost effectively.

Have been a patient many times and have been very happy and comfortable with my care. Have heard that in the past the food was terrible but believe me it has greatly improved! I was there this past December for one week and commented to everyone how good the food was. The nurses were very cheerful and kept my spirits up and kept my family informed about me everyday.

I have been inpatient at Community Hospital 4 or 5 times in the past2 years. Food is horrible, most nurses rude and condescending (along with a few super nice ones). I only go to this hospital because all my doctors are here, and I love my doctors enough to put up with the negatives.

As in many other hospitals you will wait and wait for personal assistance. You could die waiting in the emergency room. Nurse neglect caused my father to stay an extra 4 days in hospital due to Intravenous left in too long.It got infected and needed to be lanced. Food needs to improve as well.
