St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center

My wife had to have a hysterectomy and it was scheduled at St Francis. The surgery took longer than expected, but we were kept informed of everything all the time. The doctors and staff were very professional and courteous. They submitted everything to insurance and did not bill us any until after insurance paid. The bill was very detailed and complete. It listed total charge by item, amount paid by insurance, write off amount, and the amount we were responsible for. They even explained the insurance requirements concerning co-pays and deductibles, as per our insurance policy. We contacted them because we could not pay the entire balance by the due date and they set up a payment plan. Overall the only complaint my wife had was the food did not taste good.

I was admitted in 2008 with a diabetes diagnosis. The "hospitalist" came in my room and berated me asking why I hadn't taken care of my diabetes. I told him I just found out that I have it. When I asked if I could see another Dr. I was told that if I would not see him, they would not provide another Dr. for me to see. They are run like the mafia and have piss poor care. I have had to go to St. Francis on other occasions and have had no good experiences there. Bad hospital. Hope you never have to be taken there without your consent.
