In Oct., 2018, I had a long scheduled and anticipated appointment with Dr. Vikas Patel at the UC Anschutz facility. My wife and I arrived early (1:30 p.m.) from our home 65 away. The appointment was set for 3:00 p.m. with a requested arrival of 2:30. We were finally called back to a room shortly after 3:30 p.m. After taking vitals, the M.A. said that I would need an x-ray of my lumbar spine, even though I had an MRI at UC Health in Oct., 2017. I explained that I had general questions for Dr. Patel and that the answers did not depend upon any unlikely recent changes to my spine. I also explained that I will soon have to undergo CT scans for an inguinal hernia, lungs, and possibly sinuses. I wish to have no extra x-rays until they might be really needed. After the M.A. left, Dr. Dunn (resident) appeared and asked for the x-ray once more and stated that Dr. Patel would not see me without it. I re-explained my situation and that I had general questions to place to an expert on the lumbar spine and any possible minimally invasive procedures to lessen the almost unbearable constant pain. My argument was to no avail. I left without seeing Dr. Patel and drove home after a completely wasted day. I was very disappointed and depressed. When a patient has traveled far and waited a long time for an appointment, surely the physician could, at least, appear in person and listen to their explanation. Dr. Patel not doing so was disrespectful if not unethical

Great Hospital and great patient care. Some treatment can be costly but the finance department is flexible.

When transferring my wife from bed to chair, she fell. The staff person failed to put the belt on her as standard medical procedure. The hospital knew about the fall yet no medical was done for injuries! Mixed review as some doctors are great.

Very thorough, concerned with patient wait times and comfort when I took my visiting sister to the ER with a possible rib fracture. I had a total knee replacement a few year's ago. My treatment was marvelous, relatively painless, and the in-hospital rehab invaluable
