My husband waited 4.5 hours in the emergency room after getting caustic soda in his eye at work. The staff was rude and unhelful when asked how much longer the wait would be. I will never go there again no matter what.

I am an MRSA patient which I contracted at the Mis,when you have to go thru the ER you are treated like you have leprosy. The ER staff are the rudest I have ever encountered. When I was admitted for surgery the floor staff were much more compassionate and respectful. I would not be dealing with MRSA if the hospital raised its cleanliness standards. While I was in there for 5 days after my surgery my room was not cleaned even once...How do you keep infections down?????

I had my first experience at this hospital last week. While not modern, more important to me was the staff, treatment and wait time. I was treated in a friendly, efficient manner from the first receptionist on through several aids and nurses until my departure. I was taken on time, treated with respect, shown patience for my questions and clearly instructed on my home care. I overheard a distraught patient treated with kindness and understanding of her fear and was impressed at how quickly she was calmed down. This facility, while aging, serves hundreds of people each day and is well signed to direct all to the appropriate area in the maze-like struture. There are washrooms readily available with everything at hand, plenty of seating for patients or waiting family members, but most importantly, is staffed by the kind of knowledgeable, caring, empathetic personel one would hope to meet in that environment. Kudos to all.

was seen in the emergency dept.and the nurses and the doctor were not compassionate, helpful or knowledgable. when family asked what was happening the nurses directed them to ask the patient, why would they not acknowledge the family concern or questions... probably because they were too busy talking about their overtime slips and other personel conversations. avoid this hospital if possible.

Arrived at 9am in the morning with a 7 year old, complete with broken arm. Although they X-ray, no one followed up until a doctor has passed us in the waiting room at 4:30 asking us what we were still doing around. from 9am, till 4:30 they would not let him drink, eat anything, or even give him anything for pain. They finally told us at 4:30 that his arm was much too broken to be treated at the Mis, and we were to go to the Stollery. No preference would be given in wait either, the whole process would have to start again. At the Stollery Emerg. we arrive at 5, he was medicated by 6 and out of surgery by 11. The Mis is a disgrace. This is one of many many stories, and I wouldn't arrive at their door step even if my life depended on it.
