Had a lipoma removed with him recently. Friendly, thorough and did an excellent job. I have a few others and would not hesitate to go back to him.

Dr Backstein didn’t greet me when he came into the examination room. He was curt, dismissive and condescending. I will not be going back to him and don’t recommend him to anybody. Very unsatisfied with him. Mr Johnstone

Could not be happier! I had a cyst on my face for years which I was very fearful of removing because of potential scarring. The procedure was seamless, pain afterwards was minimal and my scar is hardly noticeable. Very pleased indeed.

He removed a growth. Manner was friendly but he can’t stitch and I was left to deal with an open wound that became infected and required treatment from another doctor. What should have been a small incision scar was a large gaping hole. Years later, scar has faded but it looked like I’d been maimed for a long time not to mention the risk of sepsis. Not recommended.

Dr. Richard Backstein is an excellent surgeon in my opinion. I had a cancer spot on my face for about 6 years and had it treated several times by two other Drs . They had used liquid nitrogen and even tried surgery but had no sucess it kept returning as an open sore. I then was able to get an appointment with Dr. Backstein he cut out the bad tissue which was an about 3 inches long. It healed perfectly in about 4 weeks and it has now been 6 months and the scar is minimal and has faded to normal skin colour. I thank God for such good Drs. and especially for his help specifically. I dread having this done dr backstein is very young and knowledgeable about what he does super efficient and makes you feel as comfortable as you can be.

I had what I thought was a pyogenic granuloma removed from my arm at his office in Stoney Creek. He was prompt and thorough. My incision was small and healed fantastically. Even several other health care professionals commented on how good it looked. When it turned out the growth was a nodular melanoma, Dr Backstein called me personally to let me know. He was very kind to me and I will never forget that. He also gave me an idea of what to expect from further treatment as well, as he was referring me to the Juravinski Cancer Clinic. I had to have more tissue excised from my arm, but because of Dr Backstein's skill in the original incision, I didn't have to have a skin graft. I am very thankful for his kindness and his skill. I would certainly recommend him.
