Biography

Dr. Mindy Blumberg is an optometrist registered with the BC College of Optometrists and member of the BC Doctors of Optometry. She graduated with honours from the University of Waterloo and moved to Whistler, BC to live in the mountains. Mindy grew up alpine ski racing and has a special interest in sports vision. She does annual performance vision training for the BC Alpine Ski Team to improve their vision for speed and accuracy when racing. She brings expertise on post-concussion vision rehabilitation, and performance sports vision. She also uses these functional vision skills, and vision therapy to improve reading and comprehension in children by enhancing the visual systems needed to have academic success. She is currently enrolled in the Optometric Externship Program to continue improving her behavioural vision therapy knowledge. Behavioural vision provides insight to improve vision with the best possible prescriptions to control myopia, reduce eyestrain, and improve quality of life. Mindy has volunteered on an eye care mission in Honduras, which helped 500 Hondurans get valuable eye care and glasses. In 2019, she started her first mobile eye clinic in Bella Coola with the Nuxalk Nation. It was an amazing experience for her to get to know the community and help her patients improve their quality of life with better vision. She now calls Pemberton home and enjoys helping her community with their eye and vision concerns. She has connected with the Southern Stl’atl’imx Health Society to provide mobile eye clinic services and continued eye care to First Nations communities. Her mission is to continue to connect with those in need of vision services by taking the time to listen to her patients and collaborate to find the best solution for them.
