Not a pleasant exam but staff was extremely polite, helpful and respectful. I didn't have any interaction with Dr. Zalev but he was instructing another doctor who was instructing me. His demeanor was very kind towards her and he sounded very professional and instructive as it should be in a teaching institution. Pre and post testing instructions from all sources was most helpful.

He is the rudest and most awkward PERSON let alone doctor that I have ever met. I hope he brings both knowledge and research to Saint Mikes because he brings little in the way of patient care or interactions. An atrocity.

Dr. Zalev performed by upper GI exam, and I found him to be both very abrupt and very awkward. As he explains the procedure to you he invites you to provide clinical history however does not appear interested in hearing any of it (he will never look you in the eye). During my procedure he ordered the x-ray technologist around and barks orders at myself. Afterwords he'll say "I think we have everything and I"ll send a report out to you r Dr.. That's it nothing else. The x-ray technologist was kind enough to provide me with post exam instructions. Dr. Goldberg at Toronto East General is his exact opposite if you care about the patient care aspect of your exam (along with equal competency).
