Ratings for Dr. Barry Lumb
I hope there is a special very painful place in the afterlife waiting for this man. He has written me off after doing only one test, (the same test done by my local doctors, no different approach) shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know" and told me that there would be no other doctors who would be willing to actually have to think or work at finding out the cause of the defined pattern of debilitating pain that has destroyed my life. He doesn't listen, rushes in and out to attend to other matters and generally made me feel like my life and health were worthless to him.
Have had Crohns for 40 years and have seen half a dozen or more gastros. Dr Lumb has been awesome. Involves me in my treatment direction and let's me know next steps as well. Had to beg my GP for years to get me away from my former gastro who never ordered a colonoscopy at all in 12 years. After two years of Dr Lumb's advice and care, I have gained 10 pounds and feel the best I have in 20 years.
Dr. Lumb has done 3 colonoscopies on me only once I didn't wake up during the procedure the other two I did I will never go back to him he has a very bad bedside manner doesn't say much to you and most certainly didn't care with the amount of pain I was in waking up during the procedure that is in humane shame on you Dr. Lumb
Unfortunately this doctor goes not have any other way of treating Crohn's. He had not gained can't knowledge about the disease in over 25 years. He still gives you the same drugs, the sane treatment he hasn't learned anything new about this disease in all these years. Very sad!! It's always his way or the highway not what he should be like as a specialist.
My fiance has been a patient of dr Lumbs for like 18 yrs and im now a new patient of his myself, and i found him his staff and his student to be wonderful. i have many complex healthissues and he was very careful to cover everything, did multiple tests and now im just waiting for results and apt for colonoscopy, i found him to be absolutely wonderful and well worth the waitlist.
I have suffered with UC for 10 years and moved here from BC a year ago. DR. Lumb is my new DR. And after seeing him for the 3rd time I know that he should not be doing this job! As one lady said here, he does not listen to what you say, and what he says is complete nonsense ! Like a comment 'what you eat doesn't affect your UC' What? Obviously you went to the wrong school . Maybe you should live in a patients body for awhile! And the questions he asks do not relate to my illness ! I am very disappointed and so is my family dr. Who knows more about my illness than he does! Also he is trying to get me off a medication which was prescribed and directed by my other specialist and which I cannot be without due to my other illness!
Dr. Lumb diagnosed me with achalasia 3.5 yrs. ago. No other practitioner was able to identify with the symptoms. He is obviously highly skilled and very experienced. He arranged me to meet with a general surgeon very quickly so that I could go for surgery. You could tell that he was incredibly busy, but was still professional enough to give me the time I felt was required. His professional experience improved the quality of my life. I highly recommend him. Great healthcare professional. Medicine is fortunate to have someone like him.
