the WORST experience I've ever had at a doctors office, dismissed me, wouldn't let me speak and even reached for the door THREE times as I was speaking, the discussion and exam lasted under 4 full minutes (i've never experienced anything like this) he took me into his office and gave me a diagnosis after knowing me less than 5 minutes, the entire thing was a joke, i sobbed the entire way home, please save yourself the waste of time

Dr. Gaines has haunted me for 16+ years. He told me my baby would die because I did not have a flu shot. My baby is alive 16.5 years later. Gaines is rude, crude, unreasonable, mean, condescending, and intentionally hurts women in exams. I would not take my dog to him. I have no idea how he is still in practice. Avoid him at ALL costs. He is dangerous.

Great patient care & personalized approach! I appreciate Dr. Gaines commitment to his patients. He has gone above and beyond for me on many occasions.

I know that Dr. Gaines might rub some people the wrong way (based on the reviews I'm reading), but he is an excellent doctor. I think he is very direct and that might come across to some as being abrupt and dismissive. He really isn't, though, and I've been seeing him now for three years. I like him so well that I have made him my primary (and he's an ob/gyn) because every time I have had a problem my health has improved. Hope this helps!

I just left Dr. Gaines office and I am appalled at how I was treated. His explanations are extraordinarily rude and dismissive - he spoke to me as if I was completely ignorant. I asked him for advice on a medical condition I have had for 15+ years and he was so unhelpful. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone unless they want to be rushed out of an exam room and dismissed as if they were unimportant and ignorant.

I avoid seeing Dr. Gaines at all cost. The two times I have had to see him, he has overreacted about minor issues and blows things up to make you feel like something is wrong when there is not. I will be very upset if he is on call when I go into labor. He is short when talking with you and answers your questions in a way that makes you feel stupid. I would not recommend this Dr. to anyone. It is unfortunate because I have liked every other Dr. in the same practice.

I met with Dr. Gaines during my first pregnancy. I came prepared with questions about travel, call share delivery, and Zika. I felt that his answers were short and dismissive. "I can't predict the future" in terms of travel, "We have lives too" in terms of why they do call share now, and "People here who have Zika went somewhere to get it, the mosquitos here don't have it yet." in regards precautions I should be taking regarding Zika. He left the room to check momentarily and I shed a few tears about the short conversation we had and how I didn't feel like he addressed any of my concerns. When he came back in the room he offered me anxiety medication. As someone who struggled to become pregnant and has not had a drop of caffeine, artificial sugar, etc. since the day I did IVF, the offer of anxiety medication was especially alarming. I have had nothing but great experiences with the other doctors at this practice, especially Dr. Gunter, but will avoid Dr. Gaines for the rest of my pregnancy.

I truly hated every second of seeing this man during my wife's two pregnancies. We lost the first baby due to ectopic pregnancy, and we were so distraught about it. He treated us like it was no big deal, and when the time came for the surgery, he actually said he was going in to "pluck it out!" This was our baby! That we desperately wanted and were losing! My wife really liked the whole practice and decided not to change when she became pregnant again. We avoided seeing him on purpose for the whole pregnancy, but he was on call when my wife went into labor. He was pushy, would not listen to anything we had to say, ignored our birth plan outright, and I actually had to tell him to shut up while my wife and I discussed the option of epidural. This man took something magical and made it unnecessarily difficult. I've never felt so much ill will toward a doctor. I would NEVER recommend him to anyone.

I have endured 12 painful months of being misdiagnosed . He rarely asked any questions and was very unconcerned. The exams were EXTREMELY PAINFUL. I cried through every exam. He said it was from endometriosis (later doctors ad Duke and unc chapel hill have confirmed I do NOT have endometriosis. ) He gave me a painful, quick and harsh exam at least once a month. After 14 months my new doctors have diagnosdiagnosed me with muscular problems du to trauma. I am not sux u ally active. The only way I could have any trauma in my lady parts is directly from the exams. I wonder who else experienced a similar nightmare from him. This is the short version of what I went through with him. I would like to connect with other ladies with similar stories from Mr Gaines. I refuse to dive him the Doctor title.
