FTM top surgery patients be warned! I went to Dr Teresa Benaquista because my community plan would pay her. She had a nice demeanor the first initial consult, but when I came back for the second consult I heard her calling me she in the halfway to her apprentice. I am female to male transgender and came to her for top surgery. Her staff knew my pronouns are he and my legal name and sex are all changed to he. So hurt that the doctor advertising top surgery online calls her transgender patients SHE when talking about them to anyone. I came to her for help not to be hurt by her! On the day of surgery I come and while waiting for my turn to go in for surgery, I ask her how long does she think it will be and her reply, "Well the other patient before you is finished and SHE will be taken out of the room shortly. AGAIN calling her transgender patients SHE instead of he. One of the rudest, hurtful, and unprofessional things you can call a transgender person when online you are advertising yourself as doing transgender top surgery. Are you not supposed to be the smartest person in the room? The expert? Now to the actual surgery she did on my chest. She completely botched my left nipple. It's supposed to be made male looking and she didn't even stitch the nipple down. It's like she just got tired toward the end of the surgery and said F it. Now it sticks up like a female nipple and grows scar tissue inside the hollow nipple every night making it painful. I will have to have corrective surgery. She also left an extra patch of skin on my chest and just sowed it down making it obvious that there was extra skin there before. It literally sticks up on my chest. My nipple is supposed to lock completely flat and masculine ( a male chest) is what medicare paid her to do. Instead my right nipple looks like a mush of scar tissue folded up on top of each other. It hurts to actually push down on my nipple and I've had already been made fun of by a cis gendered guy and he says you're not a male because your nipple is sticking up lick a woman's. After all the time and paid I went through for this to be over and just didn't give a hoot and did a botched job. 2 pictures on the left are fat not flat bulging nipples and on the right is a correctly done ftm flat nipples where the actual nipple protrudes not the round skin around it. She also made me get a mamogram done before she would perform the surgery. It's her standard operating procedure she says. I went to 2 other ftm top surgeons and they said it wasn't necessary thing to get the surgery. It is doctors discretion so she chose to make her female to male patients go through that for her own entertainment. It was totally embarrassing to have your nipple squeezed when I always pretended they didn't exist and never had them checked on my own. It was just more emotional pain to ad to the sorrow I already had at the time. And caused by the doctor who calls her transgender male patients SHE instead of HE. The extra fat she was supposed to liposuct out of my chest is left making me look fat in my chest when the rest of my body is not fat.
