This doctor has a hands off attitude. If I hadn't become self informed about the issues we were dealing with, I would have felt like a spec of dust after seeing him for numerous appointments. I felt like I had to 'Go for counselling' before I could see him. He was not willing to take a stand during out marital counselling and 'wimped out' many times. He did give us the chance to talk as he said very little. I felt like it was a free for all in our couselling sessions with the best 'man' winning. Not much good for advice. He is pretty much on time so you will get your money's worth as far as endurance goes.

Very caring man that is concerned with the long term outcome of his patients. Very helpful in dealing with some complicated family issues and treated myself and family members with great respect.

a lot of listening. not a lot of advising. he makes you feel comfortable but is not of huge help in offering solutions or problem solving.

My husband had one visit with Dr. Richert 2 years ago. I was included in the first part of the session for the history taking and the initial assessment piece. I was very pleased with the part of the session I was part of and following my husband's session he also felt it had been a most worthwhile session. My husband did not really want to go to see a psychologist, but was doing it for me. Both of us found Dr. Richert knowledgeable for our needs and he certainly made us feel comfortable being there. We did not book another session, although Dr. Richert let us know that we were welcome to come back at any time. He assisted us on the first step of a "new" journey, helped us identify some of our needs as well as verifying some of what we were feeling. We left knowing that he was there if we needed him, but his expertise during this session gave us confidence to go forward in out lives.

Suggest "helping" such as suggesting solutions, coping mechanisms etc instead of just listening.
