I have been seeing Dr. Lawler for many years. At first he was very good, however, in the past few years he seems to be sleep walking through the appointments and was rude to me when I was saw him for side effects from hormone replacement therapy. This was totally out of character for him in my experience, but I was very offended just the same. My 16 year old daughter was mistreated by him as she has terribly long periods and he did not want to prescribe birth control pills to help her manage her condition. He never examined her physically, he just said, "nothing we can do" and charged us $212.00. This poor kid has suffered for years with endless horribly heavy periods. I have left his practise. The knowledgeable rating is misleading in this case as he is knowledgeable, but has an agenda, is possibly burned out. The worst part is that he did not reveal his agenda, he just refused to help my daughter, when he should have said that there is treatment but he is not willing to help.

Very smart, patient, and understanding to his patients' needs

Be careful here. Dr. Lawler made a 22-year-old girl, who only had one sexual partner, cry because she wanted birth control. Told her she shouldn't be having sex until there was a ring on her finger. He is a good doctor, but he definitely lets his beliefs get in the way of his practice.

I drive from downtown Chicago to go to Dr. Lawler. Because I have some health complications, I need a physician who really knows what he's doing, and also respects my values. Dr. Lawler has tremendous knowledge and skill. He made sure during the various biopsies I needed to undergo that I was as comfortable as possible and also that I understood exactly what he was doing beforehand. He took time to go through the results of the tests and answer all my questions, and had a helpful follow-up plan prepared. Most of all, he knows me as a person, not just one of many faceless patients. In the past, I've always gone to a female OB/GYN and couldn't imagine going to a man, but he was so highly recommended I thought I'd give it a try, and my friend was so right! I can't say enough about what a terrific physician Dr. Lawler is. He seems to really care about his clients. He is definitely worth the drive!

Good doctor, but be aware that he doesn't prescribe contraceptives.

Dr Lawler is in the same group as Dr Kelly and they are both the best ones in the practice. Dr. Lawler took extra time to make sure I was comfortable and was always very compassionate
