The staff is not only outright rude, but have no care about their clients time. I felt like I was the surrounded by a group of high school mean girls. The woman who did my cleaning had no idea what she was doing, and performed it in about 15 minutes, did not floss me, and when I told her my teeth still felt rough she said she would just polish more.. Dr.Abate is never there. Prices are through the rough and I was told I had cavities even when I didn't.

I had a HORRIBLE experience with Dr. Abate and her staff. I had several appts with her over a period of about one year. When I began going to her, I had made an appt for a cleaning because it had been about a year since I had one due to switching jobs and insurance and needing to find a new dentist. The office told me that prior to getting a cleaning, the dr would want to do an exam and xrays. She then recommended extensive treatment that I needed including several fillings and 2 root canals. I was a bit skeptical because I had no pain whatsoever and haven't had any dental work with the exception of a couple fillings in my life, but I trusted her. After the first root canal, she said that it went perfectly etc etc. I never had pain in the tooth prior to the RC but afterwards, I had constant pain. I went back her several times complaining of the pain and each time she would blame it on my bite and adjust the height of the crown, etc and eventually gave me an rx for numbing mouthwash. Later I found out that she had missed 2 of the canals which is why I was having the pain and I had to have an endo-dentist fix it, which my insurance would not cover because of the "work" she had already done. During one of my fillings, she accidentally nicked an artery in my gum while giving me a shot of the numbing agent causing the entire side of my face to swell up to my eye and bruise. I went back to her a few times for that and she claimed to have no idea what caused it even though I had done extensive research and presented it to her and also had the opinion of my PCP, she just acted like I had no idea what I was talking about. The final straw was when one of the permanent crowns that she had put over a large filling on a tooth, completely fell out. I called the office and told them I would not be seeing her any longer and told them about my crown falling out and that I was going to have a different dentist repair it and her office manager kept telling me what a bad idea it was to go somewhere else and that their payment from my insurance company could be taken away! I ended up finding a new dentist that I loved and it turned out I never needed that second root canal and the crown she had placed on the filling was not done correctly hence why it fell out. To top it all off, after doing extensive research comparing my bills and insurance company statements that the office had over charged me over $1,500. It took MONTHS of phone calls and me finally contacting the BBB for the office to acknowledge that they owed me the money and refund me. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST! Don't make the mistake I did of not researching.

I lost a filling while I was pregnant. It didn't bother me, so I didn't rush to go anything. When I had my check up a few weeks before I was due Dr. Abate told me to come back after baby for x-Ray and follow up treatment. I did. I was told that I needed 3 fillings and 2 root canals because the cavity was infected and so close to the other tooth. I asked to see my x-ray and was told that I wouldn't understand it anyway, so it would be pointless to see it. The receptionist told me I could come for the root canals the next day. I had a 2 week old at home an wasn't sure if I wanted to leave her for an extended period. I said that my teeth weren't nothing me, so might wait. The receptionist told me my teeth were infected and of I waited the infection could go to my brain or heart. I set up an appt. I called my sister (a dental hygienist) when I got home. She said that if my teeth were infected I would have to be on an antibiotic for a week prior to and dental treatment. I knew I didn't feel right in the office. The next morning I called and cancelled. About 3 hours later I got a call from the receptionist telling me that I was going to pass the infection onto my baby via breast feeding. And I should stop ASAP. I hung up, extremely upset....called my pediatrician and lactation consultant. BOTH assured me that my baby was fine and l continue breast feeding. We then ended up moving and when I found a new dentist he filled my open cavity and sent me on my way. I would never recommend Dr. Abate to anyone!!

I began orthodontic treatment with Dr .Kathleen Abate in December of 2003. I was informed that braces were an essential part of my treatment plan and despite an existing under bite, Orthognathic surgery would not be required. Two teeth were pulled to prevent surgery. In May of 2008, Dr. Abate informed me that she could not assist me any further in my current treatment plan and provided me with a referral to a new orthodontist. The end result was that extensive jaw surgery was needed which required a five day stay in ICU in May of 2010. In February of 2014, Dr. Abate installed three dental implants two to replace the teeth she pulled and the third for a botch root canal that she had performed. Two weeks later, two of the three implants fell out. The last implant fell out in the office of Dr. Abate in March of 2014. To date, the implants still has not been re-installed despite repeated attempts to contact Dr. Abate who refuses to refund me the three thousand I paid for the implants and had her assistant call me 2 hours before my scheduled appointment to tell me that I was no longer allowed on the premises and that they would call the police if i did show up to my scheduled appointment although there were never any altercations or threats.

4 years later and dentists are still fixing the mess this quack left in my mouth. Went in with a chopped tooth that didn't bother me at all, she talks me into it needing a root canal. I paid up front what they said it would be. Does it completely wrong, only took 1/2 of one root out of a tooth with 2 roots. She doesn't fit the crush correctly so now i have a rotted tooth with roots that are disturbed and insurance won't cover another treatment on a the same tooth that's already been treated (that didn't need to be in the first place) I'm in excruciating pain and she sends me a bill for $23 which I refuse to pay. I explain to her office what's going on and why i won't pay if and what does this nasty woman do? Sues me.....for $23!!! Don't go to this hack unless you like pain

Very bad experience. Had two bridges placed a couple years ago that needed to be replaced because the margins were off. Then recently she messed up a molar that needed a root canal and once it became known that there were mistakes, she refused to see me as a patient. I am now with another dentist to correct her mistake and I have asked for a refund, which she promised. That was 3 months ago. I am now going to hire a lawyer. She talks so much about 'faith', but is very superficial and seems more focused on the Spa she opened in the same office (that does botox) then dentistry. She even went on and on one time talked about how much she loved diamonds when I was in the dental chair. Ugh. Please look at reviews online, at various websites before choosing a dentist or healthcare provider.

Would not refer anyone to this office unless they had a death wish. If you don't believe me, try sitting in her chair. Better hope an eyelash doesn't fall into your mouth.
