Procedure Date: June 2020 Procedure: Liposuction and fat transfer to breasts The initial consultation went great, Dr Malan was very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable in his abilities. At that time I decided I was going to move forward. My only complaint was he was an hour late to our consultation. Prior to the procedure I began getting cold feet and almost withdrew entirely. My blood work was “lost”, I received conflicting communication regarding pre op, it was tough to get into contact, my procedure was rescheduled 3 times and not to mention I was informed the morning that it was supposed to happen. In addition to this, 3 different people that I was speaking with left the office or were let go. I proceeded with the procedure in June and there was no follow up afterwards from Dr Malan. I heard from the nurse 4 days later asking how I was doing. Fast forward to my 1 month check in, was rescheduled 4 times and eventually it became my 3 month check in. Now that the 6 month check in is coming up...I receive a text stating they are only doing virtual visits. I have reached out numerous times to verify if my appointment is going to occur in person or virtual and no response. Results are negligible. I spent $11k and ended up with breasts that are the same size, uneven hips that I didn’t have before, and HUGE dark marks on my thighs that won’t go away along with incision scars. I’d do ANYTHING to rewind the clock and not see this doctor.

Overall Timeline: June - July 2019: Wanted Lipo / Consult August 2019: Procedure January 2020: Potential Revision (decided against it) If you’re considering Dr. Malan for precise body contouring, read this first, because I was botched. At the time, I was 33, weighed ~123lbs, am 5'5", and went in to have ~13 stubborn areas lightly lipo’d that diet and exercise didn't work on. My main issues are as follows: Online Reviews & Gag Order: I went to him due to 5 star Google reviews, but feel they are misleading. Especially when I was asked to sign a gag order prohibiting me from speaking or writing about my experience/results after he agreed to do a revision on me. I doubt I’m the only patient that’s seen this piece of paper, since it was readily available for me to sign. Results: A few areas came out nicely, but I was left asymmetrical in 3 areas - my outer thighs, sides/flanks, and banana roll area. My entire left flank wasn’t even touched. There was 0 bruising or discomfort. And trust me, after lipo you know exactly where the doc went, because it looks and feels like you were beat with a baseball bat. When he was unable to find the incision point under my left flank, he told me he went from my upper abs, up over my side, and down my back into my flank. I couldn’t feel the cannula path over my rib cage at all. Lastly, when a revision was discussed, he marked up my entire left flank to revise. The right side wasn’t much better. He took a chunk out of the middle of my right flank without blending it in. I'm left with small bulges of fat above and below the line of scar tissue which makes it hard for another doc to revise. Lastly, Dr. Malan destroyed my banana roll area, which has caused hip dips and an elongated buttock. I didn’t have this previously. My gluteal fold needs to be recreated now. Recently, I underwent a revision Lipo + BBL procedure, and some of the transferred fat migrated into what looks like an under butt. Upon researching, I need to have an infragluteal butt tuck/lift done where excess skin/fat is cut and my gluteal fold is recreated via sutures in order to fix it. Not ideal and scary after all I’ve been through. Bedside Manner: One word. Unacceptable. Fortunately, I wasn’t working during this time, but I would’ve been 10x more upset if I called in from work, drove all the way there, and experienced the below. My very first apt, Dr. Malan was unable to attend due to personal reasons. Understandable. Unfortunately, this became a recurring theme. One time, I got there and he was attending a conference. They informed me he decided to stay longer and needed to reschedule after I already arrived. Another time, I waited over an hour to be seen. During my potential revision consult, I was sitting in the lobby for 45 minutes, and was about to walk out until the receptionist grabbed Malan and finally brought me back. Not all were this bad, but majority were. Do your research when considering lipo, consult with multiple docs, go to someone board certified (he isn’t), and spend the money and be willing to wait for the right doc. Research the various lipo techniques and technologies out there. I was super hasty in my decision making, and I’m still paying the price - monetarily, physically, mentally, and emotionally. I’ve spent $20k+, had a revision procedure and am still asymmetrical, and have spent 10 months of my life recovering from this botched procedure. In all honesty, I probably need another 1-2 procedures to get it to where I want to be, but I’ll never be 100%. I just don’t want this to happen to anyone else. I learned way too much after the fact. Dig deeper than Google reviews. Please be careful. It's the worst feeling like you looked better prior to your surgery.

If I could rate him and staff a zero I would. This guy ruined my body. Him and his staff are a nightmare. They are so rude. Dr. Malan is never available. You have to see his ghetto staff. I wish I would have looked at his reviews more carefully. There are so many unhappy patients just like me. His good reviews are ALL FAKE! His google reviews are made days apart. Don’t trust this guy! He will ruin your body. My husband says I should sue and I’m going to contact an attorney. My stomach is ruined. If you post on any of the forums, his staff goes on and harasses you. It’s unbelievable how he gets away with this. All I can do is cry. My stomach was better with a little pooch. Now it is so ugly. I’m so embarrassed for failing for his fast talk.

I had liposuction and fat transfer to the breasts with Dr. Malan six months ago. He did a fantastic job. I couldn’t be any happier with my new body. Most importantly I have 100% fat retention which means all of the fat survived. The staff was helpful and friendly too. Thanks Dr. Malan for doing such wonderful work

This guy is a complete FRAUD!!! Don’t give him your money. He claims he is a plastic surgeon or cosmetic surgeon but he is an OBGYN. He claims he is an expert in liposuction but he is horrible. He will destroy your body, refuse to see you for follow ups then claim you could have reached him at any time. He is a FRAUD! I can’t believe this guy isn’t in jail. Don’t make the mistake I made and paid thousands just to have him destroy my body. I can never wear a bikini again! Run don’t walk away from this guy! Find a real plastic surgeon, not this hack.

I've been to Dr. Malan on 2 different occasions: 1st time was for lipo a few years back & then again recently for fat transfer. He's an excellent surgeon; always taking his time so I know he truly cares about his patients. Both times I've been really pleased. I look so much better, yet very natural. I've received so many compliments from all my friends and would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Malan for his very talented work!

Gynecomastia (male breast reduction) Self-verified patient of Dr. Todd K Malan - Posted on February 10th, 2019 Not happy at all with the final results. If I would of known then the difference in a cosmetic and plastic surgeon I would of never went here for male breast reduction. His office called me a few days after the consultation and asked me how much money I got and that they were willing to take what I have and pay back the rest in six months. I was happy and could not believe they would trust me and do that for me, this was happening quicker than I thought and figured anything would look better than what my chest looked like now so lets do this. They gave me Dr. Malans personal number and said if I had any questions or concerns in the meanwhile not to hesitate to call him for anything. I knew that gynecomastia can not be treated by lipo alone so I called him one time about this and he told me that I was over thinking it and that he has plenty of tools to use if his lipo procedure wouldn't work, so I left it at that. I planned for it and took a week off of work and they had the nerve to call me the day before my surgery to tell me that they don't think that I'm ready and the doctor is willing to give your money back. I couldn't believe them. I don't know if it was because I called the doctor once and the office once with a few questions or what? It was almost as if I offended them because I had a few doubts in my mind and they didn't like that. I should of took my money while I had the chance though. All I can say is that Dr. todd Malan is a liar about what he says he can do for you and what the results will look like. He promised me a flatter chest and they his lipo technique was strong enough to remove the glandular tissue along with the fat but he failed to do so. He was there for my one week and my one month post op appointment and kept telling me that I was swollen still and to go get lymphatic massages, and give it some time. On my three month post op he wasn't there and supposedly in the Bahamas with his wife opening a stem cell research clinic. That's when his nurse or whomever she was took my after Pics and kind of gave me an evil smirk as she pointed out the difference which was very little and not satisfying at all, telling me thats all they could do for me. I tried calling back the next month and the month after to see if the doctor had any other ideas for me but supposedly he was still in the bahamas. I paid all his money back in less than six months. It is now four years down the line and am now in the process of looking for a plastic surgeon to do what Dr. Todd Malan promised he could do for me. You were a waste of my time and money Dr. Malan. You obviously know nothing about GYNECOMASTIA SURGICAL CORRECTION, or what guys with gynecomastia have to go through and endure on a daily basis, or maybe you did but are so arrogant that you didn't care. Please do yourself a favor and do your homework before you choose a surgeon, ask for pics, proof of their work, talk to other patients, look at reviews, do whatever it takes to make sure the doctor will get the job done right for you. There is a major difference in a cosmetic surgeon and a plastic surgeon. Thanks for taking my hard earned money DR. MALAN, I was really looking forward to finally correcting this problem.
