I have had an excellent outcome following a total knee replacement. Mr Collopy ensures you are well aware of what you're signing-up for prior to the surgery; it's not easy to hear. However, he prepares you well and this is what you need for recovery. His experience and skill in the field are also second to none. I have nothing but high praise for him.

I have never met a ruder man. He has no bed side manner, nor empathy. He is dismissive and a poor listener and on many occasions he was rude to both me and the staff at the hospital. I would never have any kind of treatment from this man again.

I don’t doubt Collopy is knowledgeable in his field. It’s his lack of listening, and people skills that need training. Found him abrupt and condescending. If that’s his humour, he should save it for the comedy lounge. I found him difficult to read and even worse, he found it difficult to read that my 80year old mother, with onset dementia, needed me at her appointment to fill him in on what was happening with her hip. Very frustrating!!!

He is one of the best . He’s always pleasant and always has did his best for me as his client . That’s why I travel from Broome for an appointment, to have spots checked out . Thank you Dr Dermot .

I am very pleased with my knee replacement surgery. Surgery was 19 June 2024, Dr Collopy visited daily and assessed progress and gave clear instructions / advice to progress further whilst I was in hospital. As long as you follow his exercise and icing instructions you will be surprised by the recovery time. Bedside manner very direct & has a sense of humor (as long as you follow his instruction). He is very meticulous and a perfectionist wanting the very best outcome for his patients. I could not recommend highly enough

Two total knee replacements over 12 weeks. Mr Collopy is efficeient, extremely knowledgable and professional. Great bed side manner. Direct and truthful, always ready to listen and and advise what wwill be experienced next and how best to help the situation. Would recommend Mr Collopy anytime have done and will continue. I am a doctor. Dermot replaced my mum's knee. He is meticulous and driven to achieve perfection for you as patient. He may not dry your tears with a box of tissues but he will leave no stone unturned (I asked everyone I know who has worked with him and they all said the same). Best hip and knee surgeon in WA.

’Came highly recommended & got a job done, but not my cup of tea. I’ve had a couple of joints replaced now with two different surgeons and I’m happy & grateful to have two functional outcomes. My journey with this surgeon was memorably unpleasant though and I struggled with a manner that I perceived as a dismissive, devoid of empathy and occasionally downright rude, especially when complications arose. Choosing a different “operator” for my second procedure was a great move with the bonus of a great relationship and a less painful outcome that was mercifully free of complications. Based on two very different experiences, it's difficult to provide a favourable recommendation.

Brilliant orthopaedic surgeon! In agony for several months from fractured prosthetic done four years earlier (by another orthopaedic surgeon). Dermot slotted me in nine days before Christmas 2021 and the relief was/is amazing. I am coming up to 89 years and have had six knee replacements, four on right knee. Dermot did 3 and 4 and now 6! He tells me he will redo left knee (No. 4) done by him in 2009 in ten years!! Cannot praise him highly enough, great bloke, caring, no nonsense, love him to bits. Thank you Dermot
