Dr Leigh refused to listen or acknowledge any of my symptoms. She ignored the obvious swelling in my throat and neck and the pain I had when swallowing. She dismissed all of my symptoms and claimed they weren't possibly thyroid related when they checked every box and despite experiencing severe symptoms and fluctuating labs for well over a year. A week later, an ultrasound ordered by another doctor discovered 4 nodules in my thyroid. She began the appointment by telling me she couldn't help me and this wasn't a problem for her. She passed it off as somehow GI related because I was still severely vitamin D deficient even though that had been ruled out through previous testing. She repeatedly stated it wasn't her problem and was overly rude and condescending. I had to push and push to even get her to order new labs. She refused to believe that both my face and neck were swollen. She refused to believe how horrible I felt. She even stated that, though she had never seen my hair before, it seemed normal to her (my own primary doctor and even my hair stylist noticed that I've lost over half my hair and it's grown brittle in the past year). She directed me to Mayo Clinic and AACE, both of which CONTRADICTED her displayed standard of care given my symptoms and fluctuating lab results. She should have ordered other tests. She should have ordered imaging to be sure of the cause of the swelling. She only ordered repeated labs and referred to them as normal despite having a massive fluctuation in just 5 days (over 70 points in fluctuation when the standard is maybe 5-10 points). There is nothing about this visit or her lack of care that would give me any kind of confidence in her ability to accurately and compassionately treat patients. Find someone else, no matter how far you have to travel to do it.

Dr. Leigh was very nice but not helpful at all. I felt like she didn't really listen to my symptoms, and kept telling me all the things/testing she doesn't do. After one of my tests showed a potential cause of my problems she had her new nurse call me(who was really nice but couldn't answer any questions about my test). I wish Dr. Leigh would have called me directly instead of having the nurse as a go between. In the end I wasn't happy with the care I received or that she told me to just finish my medication then go off it while I waited for my thyroid to fail basically(because this could take years in her words told to me by her nurse). To me, seeing her was a waste of time and money.

Very helpful. As a transsexual it was important to find a doctor that was both knowledgeable about the processes involved, and willing to work with me, and Dr. Leigh is both. She's was helpful to the point of being enthusiastic about helping to meet my care needs, which is rare for this condition in the Midwest. At first I wasn't certain I would leave a comment because the rarity of my condition is potentially identifying, but in case there are others out there, it's important that they know Dr. Leigh is NOT the sort of doctor you hear gatekeeper horror stories about.
