I have known Dr. Kernen for many years. He has helped me through Prostate cancer and I am doing well today thanks to him. He actually saved my life. I highly recommend him for all Urinary concerns. He is so positive and has more confidence in his ability and that is why some reviewers feel they need to hear more from him. Well, he explains everything. You must ask questions, and you will be satisfied with his expertise. Believe me, he is so good. No wonder he heads the Troy Beaumont Hospital in Urology. Thank you Dr. Kernen for all you have done for me through the years. Best, Michael Martinson

Was treated like a number he see 50 to 60 patients a day your rush in and out . Was screw off a clinic trial because he give me meds he shouldn't have. I went else where for a Prostatectomy. Not recommended unless you want to be just a number!

I can't say enough about the prompt, friendly, knowledgable care from this doc and his entire staff. I'd give them ten stars if I could.

Dr. Kernen has been and continues to be very attentive to my problems caused by post cancer surgery. He is always up to date on the latest ongoing studies, latest drugs, or new procedures that may help with my situation, but is also very attentive to the fact that doing something, that would seem the logical next step, may make things worse. He is always very personable and a very caring doctor.

Biography

Kenneth M. Kernen, M.D. is a partner in the Michigan Institute of Urology, P.C. and the Director of Research for MIU. He has practiced in the metro Detroit area since 2000. Dr. Kernen is Board Certified by The American Board of Urology. Dr. Kernen is experienced in all areas of adult urology and sub-specializes in Urologic Oncology (Cancer), Laparoscopic Surgery, and Cryosurgery. Dr. Kernen received his Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1989. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1993. Dr. Kernen completed his Urology Residence at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1999 and his Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in 2000. Dr. Kernen’s hospital affiliations include William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, William Beaumont Hospital, Troy, where he is Chief of Urology and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. Dr. Kernen has participated in numerous research projects and published many articles in medical journals. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the Endourological Society, the American Medical Association, and the Michigan State Medical Society. Dr. Kernen, his wife and their 2 children reside in Oakland County. He enjoys Italian cooking, soccer, water skiing, gardening, and fly-fishing.
