Why Your Kid Should Eat All the Halloween Candy in One Sitting

Eat all those treats in one sitting? You betcha!

They come home with bags of loot, sometimes so much you don’t know where to put it all. Like many parents, you may try to ration Halloween candy. The kids need to consume it bit by bit. While this could better for maintaining overall healthy eating habits and smoother blood sugar levels, when it comes to your kids’ teeth, experts actually advise the opposite.

Why is it OK? It’s all about sugar and time. When your mouth indulges on all sorts of candy at once, it has a better impact on your teeth than eating a little bit of the sugary stuff every day. Sugar, and hence bacteria, builds up in your mouth over time and is what can cause the worst cavities.

If you eat everything at once, that basically adds up to just one sugary night instead of 50.

Of course, eating a bunch of candy every day isn’t going to do wonders for you. But devouring Halloween treats with speed could be harmless. It depends on the person. If this kind of eating leads to continued cravings for sweets and you end up actually buying more candy once you’ve finished your stash, sure, this is a problem.

If you eat all those treats quickly and never turn back once the house is rid of them, no problem.
