Biography
Dr Suveena Bisetty is a specialist paediatrician and a certified paediatric gastroenterologist She is currently in private practice at St Augustines Hospital in Durban and also sees the state patients at Inkosi Albert Luthuli on a sessional basis. She is the only certified Paediatric Gastroenterologist for the province of KZN. She has always been passionate about helping children and even as an undergraduate student at the University of KwaZulu Natal, she knew she wanted to be a paediatrician. She obtained her MBChB in 2003. She served her internship at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in 2004. During this year she had the privilege of working with some renowned paediatricians. In 2005, she worked at EGUM hospital, on the outskirts of KwaZulu Natal, even in this resource limited setting Dr Bisetty was able to continue her passion for saving children’s lives. In 2006 she entered the paediatric registrar training programme. Her first year was spent in the PMB complex of hospitals and thereafter she moved to the Durban Metro Complex. Her passion for paediatric gastroenterology developed when she was entrusted with the Paediatric Gastro ward in King Edward Hospital in 2010. In late 2010, she moved to Inkosi Albert Luthuli to spear head the paediatric gastroenterology unit. She attained her certificate in gastroenterology in 2014. She has presented at numerous paediatric local meetings as well as gastroenterology meetings and congresses.
