Dr. Toews was my psychiatrist for over two years. I saw him bi-weekly at the Health Sciences Centre, and then at his house.

I became very attached to him during that time, and asked if he could refer me to a different psychistrist because I felt my attachment was unhealthy. He didn’t provide a referral and I continued to see him until I moved out of province.

He did some things that I felt contributed to my unhealthy attachment including having my sessions at his house, boosting my car battery and showing me the plans for his house renovations.

I would avoid this psychiatrist if you have anxious attachment issues.

Don't go to him! He isn't man enough to tell me why he refuses to see me. He accused me of things I didn't do, he's arrogant, a falsifier, and untrustworthy. He is the epitome of what's wrong with our mental health help!!

This man is everything that is wrong with the industry. Misogynistic, elitist, classist, condescending and ignorant. Insulted me within the first 3 minutes of the consultation and discouraged my business idea. Didn't seem to understand why someone wouldn't want to detail their traumas to someone they'd never met before and got visibly angry when I refused to do so. He also refused to actually listen to any of my research because "YoUr GoOGle SeArChInG DoEsN't CoUnT" because you know, his high priced education from years before any of the current research is worth more somehow? (By the way I only base my research on peer reviewed articles, you should try it sometime since you don't even know what a luteal phase is or how it affects my symptoms) He then tried to gaslight me when I called him on his BS and then I Still had to fawn over him and coddle his ego to get my diagnosis.
This man is a nightmare come to life. Avoid at all costs.

He is nice. However… I would say fairly dismissive of traumatic events to one’s life. And then I explained how I had a horrible med change that was very hard on myself and my
Family. I was at the time of seeing him very stable and happy on my meds. However he decided to request a change of med during my pregnancy which has resulted in a horrible reaction from myself. Next time I will follow my
Own gut . Professionals don’t always know best: very disappointed and would likely not reccomend waiting the 8 weeks to see this person.

This guy was meant to be a psychiatrist. I couldn't say enough good things about him. He's very skilled at his profession as well as very natural.
