    Biography

    Kimberly D. Ponnuru, MD, FACS is an experienced, Board-certified surgeon with AdventHealth Medical Group. She specializes in minimally invasive surgery and acute care surgery, including gastrointestinal surgery, colorectal surgery, hemorrhoidectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and diverticulitis treatment. Prior to joining AdventHealth in 2018, Dr. Ponnuru practiced general surgery at medical centers across Kansas and Missouri. She has earned a number of honors throughout her career, including the America’s 100 Best General Surgery Healthgrades Award and the Five-Star Recipient Gallbladder Surgery Healthgrades Award. After graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology from Pittsburg State University, Dr. Ponnuru earned her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita. She is Board-certified in general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
