I had a very good experience with Dr. Nguyen - I was referred by a primary care doctor for a full body check and she performed a biopsy which proved positive for melanoma. She sent an urgent request to Surgery and they removed it within a few days. I was very happy with both Dr. Nguyen and the surgeon.

I have seen her a few times. She was never as good as any of my previous dermatologists. I should have found someone else years ago, but I preferred a woman so I stuck with her. The last time I went for a full body check, she looked at my back with a million freckles and told me my husband would have to check it instead. Too many for her to look at. Last I checked, my husband wasn't qualified to do that. I should have made a formal complaint.

Just switched over to Kaiser. Was assigned to Dr. Nguyen and had a similar experience as the 3/30/17 review. I have a history of multiple melanomas and saw a suspicious spot on my side. I was going in every 6 mons for the first 5 years, then told to come in once a year now. (by my previous doctor). I was asked to strip to my skivvies and put on a scanty gown. Pretty standard routine for a full body check. While the doctor was not anxiously waiting outside to come in immediately, I'm pretty sure I didn't wait a half hour either. Apparently I wasn't the only patient she was going to see that day. I showed her my area of concern and she took a close look and identified it as a barnacle. I asked, "are you sure" and she said yes and did no biopsy. (can you imagine!!) She did see something on my back she was concerned about, just behind my neck which she did biopsy. She told me to check the app in a week or so for the results, (if negative) or be sure to answer a call if it's positive as she does not leave messages for positive results. I checked the app and there was a nice note from her reporting a benign mole with mild irregularity. She provided some information on how to monitor the area and take care of the biopsy site with instructions to come back in a year or so or sooner if I see anything suspicious. Pretty routine. Fairly painless. I'll be back.

The absolute worst doctor I have ever seen. I have had two malignant melanomas and have been told to be seen for a full skin check every six months. I made my appointment because I had some concerns about a couple of spots on my body. The medical assistant had me strip and gave me my scanty gown and then I waited for over a half an hour for Dr. Nguyen to show up. She came in and scolded me for being there, stating that I had been seen less than a year previously. I explained about the melanoma and that I had some spots of concern. She then got called out and I heard her talking to a patient in the hallway for ten minutes. Privacy violation, ugh. When she came back in she didn't apologize for the two time excessive wait and reluctantly decided that she would examine me. She poo-pooed all of my concerns, did no biopsys, and continued to talk about how I didn't need to be there. After the exam and as she was leaving the room she turned and said, "Come back anytime you feel something isn't right." REALLY? That is what I did and I got schooled for it Dr. Nguyen. Never again from you though. You should go into research, your patient skills are not honed.
