Biography
Dr. Amit Makkar graduated from Western University in 2017 and from Manipal College of Dental Sciences in India in 2012. Raised in northern Ontario, Dr. Makkar travelled overseas to begin his dentistry career before returning to Canada to complete his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Mak, as his patients like to call him, understands that dental treatment can rank as high as spiders and public speaking when it comes to inducing anxiety. That is precisely why Dr. Mak takes pride in creating a low-stress environment for his patients through a gentle hand and a relaxed communication style. He is consistently investing time to improve his knowledge, focusing on emerging technologies and developments in dentistry to ensure he can leave his patients with a smile. He is certified in conscious sedation with laughing gas and oral sedatives and is trained in providing Invisalign treatment. He’s also fluent in Hindi and Punjabi. With a passion for all things outdoors, Dr. Makkar moved to Vancouver Island in 2019 to enjoy all that the west coast has to offer. In his free time, you can catch him mountain biking the trails with his adorable pooch, travelling to new places and diving into their cuisine and sharing his passion for Chai (Indian spice tea).
