I feel very fortunate that I discovered Dr. Adam Hart in Montreal.
After finally seeing an orthopedic surgeon in British Columbia I was told that it would be about a year or so before I could get surgery here.
The closest Canadian private facility was in Alberta, but they would only accept patients up to 79 years old so that wasn't an option for me.
After inquiring through the website I was impressed, and very pleased, to receive a personal phone call from Dr. Hart.
His whole team is very professional, caring and helpful.
Within weeks I was able to have a total knee replacement of my right knee at Ortho Westmount.
Dr. Hart is a very skilled and compassionate surgeon and my procedure went very well.
Post-op and recovery in the Ortho Westmount facility - and the meals - was great.
Our house has a lot of stairs and I was worried as to how I could manage in the first few weeks after surgery but that turned out okay.
When my bandage and staples were removed my doctor and I were impressed with how well the incision was healing.
If I need any orthopedic surgery in future I hope that Dr. Hart will provide it.
It is certainly worth flying to Montreal to obtain such great results.

Après une expérience désastreuse du remplacement de ma hanche gauche et une année de douleurs malgré un suivi en physiothérapie et des exercices répétés avec rigueur je devais affronter le remplacement de ma hanche droite. J'ai cherché un orthopédiste exceptionnel, et j'ai trouvé le Dr. ADAM HART. Tout ce que j'avais lu sur lui s'est avéré vrai avec en prime, son sourire. Deux semaines après l'intervention je marche sans aide et sans douleur. L'infirmière et la physiothèrapeute du CLSC qui m'avaient accompagnée lors de la première opération n'en reviennent pas de l'immense différence au niveau de ma récupération . Moi, c'était ce que j'espérais et mes attentes ont été surpassées.
Je remercie le Dr. HART pour son écoute, l'évaluation qu'il a faite de ma condition et surtout d'avoir amélioré ma qualité de vie. Je ne jure que par lui et je le recommande entièrement. Un seul regret, celui de ne pas avoir fait ces recherches lors de ma première opération.

I contacted Dr. Hart and, to my surprise, he called me that afternoon. An Xray and consultation was arranged for three days later. The decision was clear, a total hip replacement was necessary. In just over a month from then,13/3/24 I had my operation done by Dr. Hart, an extremely skilled surgeon, and for a few days was cared for by very competent nurses, physiotherapists and staff at the Ortho Westmount Surgical Clinic. In addition, I had the ability to contact a nurse and physio staff after I returned to Ottawa. I should mention that I did not experience any pain after the surgery. Thank you Dr. Hart and all the staff for enabling me to enjoy life pain free.

You know when you're looking for a new restaurant and you see one that is empty and then you see one packed, with people standing in line to get in? Which one do you choose, and which one do you avoid? The one with patrons clamouring to get in tells you it's the best. That's what's going on with Dr. Adam Hart. It's the one with the best outcomes and most satisfied patients.

After 2 years of discomfort, my hip started getting rapidly worse, so in December of 2022. I asked my GP for a referral to an orthopedic surgeon. After waiting 11 months, I didn't even get a call for my first consultation. I was also told that after the consult, it was a 12-18 month wait for surgery. During that period the hip got so bad that I literally couldn't even walk to the end of my block. For someone who had run many marathons and triathlons, this was a shocking development. I decided that, at 71,putting money towards my well being was more important than having it in the bank. Within 2 days of contacting Dr. Heart's office I got a call from him personally, and within 1 week I had a consultation with a current x-ray, organized by his team. The decision was clear. The hip was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. Within one month after that it was done. The whole process was a 5 Star experience with the team and the facilities. No nonsense to the point. It's worth noting that I had some specific issues and Dr. Hart was willing to discuss different options and solutions to my problems. It's not a one size fits all recepie. Just like that busy restaurant, in and out efficiently with a very satisfied feeling.... and they even substitute salad for fries on the special!

The curious part was that there was hardly any pain. I basically only needed Tylonol over the following weeks, taking Oxycodone (provided) only two or 3 times. I believe that is the result of Adam's skill and minimally invasive approach. The nurse who took out my stiches, said the thin 2.5" long cut looked "perfect", and today, a few months later, it's hardly visible.

I'm happily swimming regularly and playing pickle ball and tennis with no issues. Note, however, that the post surgery physiotherapy is critical to a good recovery.

In conclusion, if you want excellent results and efficient service, Dr Adam Hart, at Ortho Westmount is a great choice. FK

After finding out that the wait list in Alberta to get a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon was 20-24 months, I chose to get a hip replacement with Dr. Hart of Ortho Westmount. Someone had strongly recommended Dr. Hart to me and I now know why.

He not only does excellent work, but has a very hands on approach also. Even though I was located out of province, he called me more than once to consult with me and answer my questions. I am three weeks with the new hip and all is going very well. When I went to get my staples out, a local orthapedic surgeon commented that he has never seen a smaller scar. He wasn't sure how Dr. Hart does it. For the record, Dr. Hart used the mini posterior approach on my hip as he favours that over the anterior approach. Having said that, he was happy to do the anterior approach if that is what I chose. He told me that there were less potential surgical complications via the mini-posterior approach, albeit it had a slightly longer recovery time . He told me that the recovery progress for the two approaches is about the same after 6 weeks. That was good enough rationale for me as I am more concerned with long term health versus the quickest recovery. To put it in perspective though, I am now walking (with walking sticks for overall gait balance) for about 45 minutes a day. Seems pretty good to me!

The entire Ortho Westmount clinic and its staff are first rate. Very friendly and helpful. I received excellent pre and post surgical consultation, from the Nursers, Physio and Anesthesiologist.

If you are considering a private clinic, I am sure there are others out there that are very good also, but you can not go wrong with Dr. Hart and Ortho Westmount. I was operated on within 3 months from my first contact with the clinic. Look forward to getting on with living a pain free life again.

I underwent surgery three weeks and two days after first meeting with Dr. Adam Hart. My experience, from pre-op to post-op and follow-up after my return home was entirely positive. I consider myself fortunate to have found Dr. Hart after a very unsatisfactory first attempt to get hip surgery through another private clinic.

After months of research, we were blessed to have found Dr. Hart for my mom’s right knee replacement.

Dr. Hart came highly recommended as the most skilled and compassionate orthopaedic surgeons in the area. Patients travel from far and wide to see him, and it was not hard to see why! From the moment we walked into Ortho Westmount, we felt the warm and welcoming atmosphere that he and his staff have created. Dr. Hart takes the time to listen, he has a way of putting even the most anxious patients and their family at ease with his gentle demeanour.

TKR is no easy decision but the responsiveness, compassion and skill of the surgical team can make a big difference. The surgical environment was clean, convalescence care was superb, our post surgery nurse Sarifa was extremely caring and Dr. Hart has remained readily available every step of the way. It is inspiring how he goes the extra mile to be this responsive to his patients despite his busy schedule!

We are now over 6 weeks into my mom’s recovery, and will remain ever thankful to everyone on Dr. Hart’s wonderful team.

Had a knee replacement done by Dr. Hart. I have only good comments to make.
Dr.Hart is "the consumate professional" . I could not be more pleased with the whole experience from pre- to post op follow up .

J’avais choisi Dr Hart pour le remplacement de ma hanche suite à plusieurs recommandations. Ce fut un succès! Mon expérience fut positive du début à la fin, du moment où il m’a appelée à la maison pour questionner ma situation jusqu’aux suivis. C’est un grand chirurgien, avec des techniques modernes, il explique clairement, écoute et répond bien à nos questions, en plus d’être sympathique. Et ma cicatrice est toute petite!
