After thinking for over two years that my hips will get better, just gotta work through it, came the realization that a hip replacement surgery was unavoidable. In Ontario, the wait was about another 12 months. I know that this may be better than most of the other Provinces. But when every step hurt and my quality of life was indeed being impacted, it was wonderful to have an alternative.

Like many others, I found Dr Hart on-line and could it be true that everyone’s write up was overwhelmingly positive and a life story long?

YES.

Contacted Dr Hart online. Received a personal call from him the next evening. Who does that? Dr Hart does, for everyone of his patients.

Due to a cancelation, my surgery occurred two weeks later at Ortho Westmount.

Superb logistics, wonderful, kind, personalities, extremely skilled surgeon. From Franny the co-ordinator, to the nurses at the surgery centre and convalescence to the anesthesiologist and of course, the surgeon hero. Everything was beyond my expectations.

Its day 12 post surgery today. So far, there has been no pain. We all started walking a tiny bit on surgery day and every hour from S+1 onwards. I have migrated off my walker and onto hiking poles a week post surgery. Will be driving in 2 more days!

Looking forward to spring hikes and bike rides.

If you are contemplating whether you should do hip surgery and if so, is Dr Hart the right guy?

All I can say is that your mind needs to be ready. And if you are ready, I would highly recommend Dr Hart and Ortho Westmont. Rate of success is totally correlated to the skill of the surgeon. Not only is Dr Hart a skilled surgeon, but you also get a wonderful, compassionate, person and a fabulous team of support.

Good luck and God Bless.

Just finished up my 6 week post-op and want to say I couldn’t be happier with my decision to have a hip replacement with Dr. Hart. The quality of my life has increased so much since surgery both physically and mentally. I am slowly getting back to the person I recognize. Dr. Hart takes the time to explain everything and answer all questions…very personable and obviously knowledgeable.
The clinic staff and overall experience were exceptional also. Super pleased with the experience.

Superb hip replacement surgery, superb anaesthesia (spinal and propofol), and superb team of nurses, physios, and support staff. Two night stay: no kicking you out as soon as you are half-awake…and two physio sessions post-op so you can handle walker, steps, etc. As a surgeon myself, I highly recommend dr. Hart and his team.

I went in for a total knee replacement, and from the time that Dr. Hart called me right up to my departure from the clinic, everything went very smoothly, on time, with the friendliest of staff. The atmosphere there was calm, quiet, filled with smiling faces. Follow-up was exactly as promised, so reassuring. I highly recommend Dr. Hart.

It’s been 7 weeks since Dr. Hart performed a hip replacement at his state-of-art clinic in Montreal. Post surgery delivered immediate pain-relief, and confident mobility with a couple of days following the surgery. The overall experience, from assessment to post surgical care was exceptional. After spending 2 nights post-surgery at Dr Hart’s comfortable, modern, and very pleasant Westmount Clinic, I returned to British Columbia on a long flight, in a very comfortable and pain-free condition. After enduring a year of hip-pain, Dr Hart’s surgery resulted in immediate relief, and it got better every day. It’s amazing how the absence of pain, can boost both your physical health, and your psychological outlook. Obviously, Dr. Hart is a skilled surgeon, but additionally, the overall quality of care in the Westmount Surgical Centre felt more like a 5-star hotel…but a 5-star hotel with immediate pain relief! There is a lot of gratitude on my part, to be able to return to the pursuits of travel, and all the physical activities that are so essential in delivering the quality of life. Thank-you, Dr.Hart !

It has been 12 days since my bilateral knee replacement.  I am improving daily, following the instructions for walking (with a walker), doing physio as recommended by the clinic. and taking the medication prescribed  I could not imagine this being a better experience.
I wrote to Dr Hart in February 2024, and he responded the same day - the fact that he, himself responded, impressed me from the start.  I met with him in March and had x-rays done in the same building as the clinic.  By the time we got to the consultation appointment, later that morning, he had the x-rays on his computer.  He explained that the cartilage had worn away from both knees, and he suggested I have both replaced at the same time.  He had an opening five weeks later, and I booked it.
The team immediately engaged, emails were sent to me, lots of detail of what needed to be done at my end, contacts from the clinic, all in the time frame explained, and by competent professional staff.
Time at the clinic was greeted by friendly staff - nurses, admin staff, everyone!  Day of the surgery everything happened on time, Dr Hart called my husband immediately following surgery to let him know it went well.  The nursing staff in recovery were attentive, friendly, helpful, and compassionate.   Dr Hart visited me the evening after the surgery.  The following day I was transferred to convelescene, where, again, the staff was professional, friendly, happy, and helpful.   I had a second visit from Dr Hart that day, and he wanted to see me do a couple of wee exercises - he advised that the medication administered during the surgery would start wearing off and what to expect.  I appreciated being told information, as things were unfolding.  The information was given to me in words I could understand, and in a gentle, caring way.   Options were offered for meals, food was good, medication was administered on time, pain was managed.  Leaving the clinic was organized, on time and lots of help to get me to my car.
Something that stood out was that everyone that works there seems happy - they like their jobs/ careers - that was uplifting.
The anticipation leading up to the surgery was overwhelming at times, and if you are waiting for your surgery, know that this is normal - fear of the unknown.  Dr Hart was recommended to me and I am so very happy he was my surgeon.  He is personable, professional, attentive - you could not ask for a more thorough and knowledgeable surgeon.
Thank you Dr Hart, and the team at Ortho Westmount including all the nurses, OR staff, administration staff.  I have been given a gift of pain free knees!
