My mom had a Pet lung scan a few months ago and due to her heart problems knew she would not be able to undergo surgery so she told the doctor that she did not want to know the results. Mom has congestion and bronchitis often and gets relief with a Z pack. She had an appt with this Dr. 4/20. She had to wait 45 min. past her appt.before being called back. He then informed her she COULD NOT get a zpack that her congestion was coming from lung cancer and she has less than 1 year to live.He then informed her that she may live to see her grandson leave for the navy[leaves in Sept.for 5 months]but not to plan on being alive when he returns.When mom starts to cry, he simply stares at her and shows no compassion.I am a LPN and hope that I never get to where I cannot show compassion.Why he refused to give her the z pack like she has had from Drs. where she used to live is beyond me. It may not have made a physical difference but if it made mom felt like it helped, what would it have hurt?
