one of the very best docs around; knows a great deal about relatively rare or obscure illnesses, and knows which tests to perform to determine what's going wrong in your body. individualized medicine at its very best!

I can't wait to get back to see this doctor. He listens, but doesn't need a three page article from patients because his mind is miles ahead--and he is right. Yes, more time would be nice...(Tests are now universal in our litigious society.) I've lived in some 10 states and have never found anyone comparable. Of course it's difficult staffing a busy office in a small town. When I used to see him at UCSF, I got caught up in their red tape. Read "Osler's Web". This is one doctor who truly cares. If you care, then my dx is: Mix a little humor in with your problems and have some patience . I just hope he doesn't tire of all the ungrateful complainers and retire--

i went in with a complaint and suggested what i thought was causing my problem…he blew off that idea and then spent 3 months running expensive tests during which time my condition worsened and a very serious situation got a hold (all because of time passing)…his office staff is incredibly disorganized, but i think that's because he's a micromanager and they wait on him…i've been lucky to have good docs before moving to incline, so i know the difference….dont waste your time with him, he's too scattered and busy…go down the hill if anything serious is wrong with you! also, i agree with the commenter who said he has favorites…i know some old ladies who think he's God, but if you treat him like someone with his feet on the earth, you'll get short shrift

I've been a patient there for years. The last 2 years have been absolutely a disaster. Dr Peterson is a wonderful doctor. His staff does not get referrals done timely at all. Appointments are generally done wrong and it takes so long to get them to call you back or get a referral back. Even the staff doesn't have faith in the people working with them.

Dr. Peterson is a very good dr. The problem I see is that he is trying to help to many people and then gets overwhelmed with patients waiting to see him. I wouldn't trade him for any other dr. though.

Another review mentioned Dr. Peterson will not release information on his patients so they can receive treatment elsewhere. Why would he do this? He doesn't want other Dr.s to inform patients that his treatments are medically unsound!!! He treats people with conditions other than CFS (i.e. head trauma and serious mental illness) despite the fact that he has no qualifications to do so. He supplies an anorexic with costly infusions that enable their disease to progress. He prescribes Human Growth Hormone for people with no deficiency in growth hormone which I believe basically amounts to an unethical medical practice. He insists that his patients have 'much needed medical' treatments, people on fixed incomes and desperate for help, that are not covered by even the best insurances and add-up to thousands of dollars. I can not comment on what good he has done for those with CFS, I truly hope it is a lot because if there is a hell he'll need all the 'good' points he can get. Avoid!!!

I've been a CFS/FM patient of Dr. Peterson's for 17 years. He was always dependable in the beginning, but lately he is non-existent, especially since he started Simmarch Research Foundation. I even moved here twice to be near him, but can't get anything from him unless you make an appt. I am hardly able to get out of bed, how can I go in to see him?! Can't get him to call in prescriptions even though I faxed request in like he asks. He's very knowlegdable, but is lacking in people skills. Even his staff says he either loves you or hates you. Unless you are a favorite patient of his who accommodates what he wants, then you get nothing. I would suggest trying another doctor if you can for everything you can.

I am the husband of a wife who has CFIDS who has struggled with this disorder for many years. I tagged along to Lake Tahoe to do the heavy lifting and to meet Dr. Peterson. I wanted to see for myself if he was for real and knowledgeable enough to help my wife. Throughout this process I have maintained an objective eye and would have been quick to complain if I did not like what I saw or if I caught a hint of quackery (CFIDs sufferers are vulnerable). What did I find? I found him and his staff to be very competent knowledgeable and deserving of the accolades they have earned as a center for CFIDS research and treatment. I have confidence that my wife’s well-being and health are in the best hands possible. My final words on Sierra Internal Medicine are this: Dr. Peterson and his staff have my confidence and the confidence of my wife’s primary care physician, Dr. Scott Rigden, a Phoenix based CFIDS expert and internist whom I greatly respect and admire. I hope this helps. FD
