I am a nurse and work with Dr. Heemskerk. she is professionala and an excellant physician.

Dr. Heemskerk was assigned to my husband for Pre-Op. When his EKG came back she questioned him about having had a heart attack in the past. He hadn't so she booked him for further testing prior to his surgery. Our neighbor, who is a EKG tech said it could have been a bad lead. Dr. Heemskerk took the time to call my husband at home with the results, informing him she too thought the lead was bad, but she wanted to be sure before giving her approval for surgery. She also followed up after surgery not once but a couple of times as she was making her rounds.

Dr. Heemskerk was the internist assigned for my husbands last surgery. When his EKG came back questionable, she immediately ordered further tests and when they came back she took the time to call him at home in the evening to inform him the results and that his surgery would not have to be postponed due to a problem. She told him she would rather be sure than have him die on the table. She have followed up with him since then to see how the orthopedic surgery recovery is coming along. This show true professionalism.
