Dr Philipkowsky treats you as a person not just a medical record number. She care and explains everything plus she has been practicing for over 20 years which is knowledge that can not be found in a text book. She puts her patient's first.

I had a problem with the person who called me to give information about a test I had. It was on my answering machine. The only problem was she didn't hang up and continued by putting me down to the person next to her. It was all recorded on my phone. The office did have her call me back and she tried to tell me she was just having a bad day and didn't say what she said. I told her it was recorded on the answering machine and I didn't appreciate her comments.

She was great when I went for my initial visit, but I was very unhappy at this practice for the next two years. I'm guessing that she must spend more time with her pregnant patients than she does with people who are there for routine concerns and birth control. After my first visit, I was always rushed through. The nurse who always dealt with me on the phone (DeeDee) was horribly rude and knew nothing about birth control (told me to stay on one that was giving me heart problems). Of course, even Dr. Philipkosky herself told me that IUDs should never be given to women who haven't had children-- which is totally inaccurate. I eventually switched doctors when I had acute vaginal irritation for MONTHS and the doctor told me to use cold water and just deal with it. It turned out to be a stubborn fungal infection, and cold water would certainly not have helped.

I met Dr. Monica while she was visiting my hospital roomate. She had surgery and I was in with Pseudo-tumor cerebri. I had just found out that morning that I was pregnant. My gyno came in and treated me horribly. She was upset because I would be a high risk pregnancy. She threw a paper on the bed and told me that it was a blood test order to see if I was still pregnant in a week. Then this OB/GYN who shall remain nameless, walked out of the room. The lady in the bed next to me told me I should see her docor, Monica Philipcowsky. She said she is nice and would never treat me so badly. The next day I met her. She told me she had dealt with Pseudo tumor cerebre patients in the past and would take me on as a patient as well. Although she didn't deliver my first son, She sent me to West Penn and kept in touch with my progress. Because my first pregnancy, labor, and delivery did so well, she delivered my second son. Everything went perfectly. Even better than at West Penn. #1!

I've heard a lot of great things about Dr. Philipkosky before I'd even met her. However, recently when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer I had actually only ended up as her patient because my Dr. was unavailable at the time. It turns out, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. She is a great doctor with a lot of compassion and actually spends time with the patient! She was always there to answer questions when other doctors would not. She performed a major surgery on me, and it went flawlessly. I will continue to see her as my permanent OBGYN.

She is very down to earth- with children of her own she is able to offer advice on both a personal and professional basis. I have been nothing but pleased with her and her practice during both of my pregnancies.

Dr Philipkowsky is easy to be with and discuss your concerns with. She was recently voted one of the top 100 doctors in Pittsburgh Magazine. I, as her patient, can agree 100% with this award. She is competant, she is efficient, she is warm. This dispels anxiety and I place my confidence in her.
