Biography
Harvard educated and Jefferson trained, Dr. Kris Radcliff is an expert in minimally invasive and complex reconstructive spinal surgeries. With each person, he takes an empathetic, patient-centered approach. Dr. Radcliff strives to restore each patient's functionality. Dr Radcliff has designed and developed cutting-edge technology and techniques to advance spine surgery. Dr. Radcliff takes an evidence-based approach to treat patients with a variety of spinal conditions, including scoliosis, stenosis, disc herniation, and degenerative disc disease. Whether Dr. Radcliff provides non-operative care or performs innovative procedures such as artificial disc replacement, he does so with compassionate care and understanding. Dr Radcliff received a Bachelor's Degree with honors from at Harvard University. Dr. Radcliff received his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery internship and residency at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Following residency, Dr. Radcliff underwent fellowship training in Spine Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University, widely considered to be one of the top orthopedic and neurosurgical spine fellowships in the world. There, he learned microsurgical techniques, focusing on outpatient, fusion, and non-fusion procedures for the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. Then, following his training, he was selected by Dr Alex Vaccaro and Todd Albert to join the Rothman Institute as a practicing physician. He has also visited and operated with leading spine surgeons in the nation and around the world. Dr. Radcliff specializes in the latest techniques in spinal reconstruction including minimally invasive spinal reconstruction procedures and artificial disk replacement. Dr Radcliff has over 10 years experience in practice. He has performed thousands of surgeries on the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. Dr. Radcliff is a Full Professor in orthopedic surgery and neurological surgery at Thomas Jefferson University. For spinal care, both orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons can do an excellent job and take excellent care of patients. A spinal surgeon is someone who can perform some elements of orthopedic surgery (such as screws and instrumentation) and some elements of neurosurgery (such as decompression of spinal nerves). Although Dr. Radcliff is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Radcliff's training and career have enabled him to work closely with neurosurgeons. In fact, Dr. Radcliff is one of a select few orthopedic spine surgeons who has been invited to participate as faculty at the American Association of Neurological Surgery/Congress of Neurological Surgeons Joint Sectional on Spinal Disorders. Highly recognized in the field of spinal surgery, Dr. Radcliff is an international expert on diagnosis, nonsurgical, and surgical treatment of spinal conditions. Dr. Radcliff has authored or co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, twenty two textbook chapters on diagnosis and treatment of spinal conditions, and has won numerous research awards. Dr. Radcliff regularly teaches other surgeons at national and international meetings about safely and efficiently performing spine surgery, techniques and complication avoidance in minimally invasive spine surgery, orthopedic basic science, and spine trauma and spinal cord Injury. Dr. Radcliff is part of the leadership of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spinal Surgery and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery I would like to thank my patients for providing feedback that will be shared with others.
