When looking for an OB, personality, punctuality etc are fine but what you really want is an ethical, knowledgable and experienced physician. It also helps to have someone that loves what they do... otherwise you are task to accomplish and preferably before dinner time. I don't need another friend, but I do need an OB that can take care of me if the bleep hits the fan, and do it ethically according to current medical standards. This is Dr. Russell and his partners. I am a physician that was new to the area and terrified when looking for an OB - as I had no recommendations and have worked with many OB's, and frankly, scared by many of them. From my experience, I KNOW that I would have had a C-sec with any other doctor - but because of Dr. Russell's patience, ethics and actual pleasure he takes in his job... 24 hours after my water breaking, I delivered vaginally. My own patients (some high risk) that are seen by this practice receive excellent care - care that they didn't receive at other clinics in the area... care according to ACOG guidelines. Some here took off points for punctuality, well you may wait 1-1.5 hours but it's only for 9 months at the most - and I promise you, the doctors aren't having tea in the breakroom... they are likely doing an emergent C-sec at the hospital or counseling a mom with a downs syndrome child. And when they DO get to you, you will get all the time you need. Yes, he is cute and funny... and sometimes say things that some may perceive as 'off color' - but you will get an incredibly experienced, ethical, sharp and up to date OB. I trust this man with my life - absolutely.

Dr. Russell is amazing! He just delivered my first baby. He has a great sense of humor which takes away any feeling of nervousness. I highly recommend!

I love Dr. Russell!!! I would wait as long as it takes to see him and would travel a great distance if I had to. He is very knowledgable, of course, but it's his bedside manner that makes him a winner. He is hilarious! He will spend as much time with you talking about your needs as it takes and you always get prompt answers regarding questions or concerns if you have to call the office. It is obvious that he loves his job and wants the best for his patients, both mother and baby.

He is such a good doctor. He delivered my baby cesarean and I was at ease the whole time. He is fun to be around and takes good care of you. He has a fun sense of humor and that makes things easier. I actually had fun at the doctors office! If they were all like him it would be easier to find a good doctor that u trust. He takes his time with you and listens to your problems.

I really like Dr. Russell. After moving to the area from NYC, I was very overwhelmed at finding an OB in the area that would support a med-free, natural delivery since this area is lacking in midwives/birthing center options, but he has proven to be very supportive. I love his comedic bedside manner - pregnancy needs humor! So far he's been great, I feel comfortable discussing my preferences for delivery, asking questions and chatting with him. He is also willing to spend as much time as needed with you and doesn't treat you like a number on a to-do list.

He is really nice and seems knowlegeable... but he's a little odd. Every time he walks in the room he sings a little song, "doo dee doo dee doo" and when I told him I'd never had a vaginal ultrasound he said, "Well, we're going to have fun with you then." And when he walked into the room where I was sitting next to the probe he asked if we had made friends. I guess some people might be made more comfortable by this kind of humor, but I found it to be a little inappropriate.

When I first moved to Bristol, Dr. Russell was recommended as the best OB in town to deal with a high risk pregnancy. Mine was high risk because of a previous HELLP Syndrone pregnancy. He delivered my three younger children VBAC, which included some minor complications due to preeclampsia. As a side note, he is the doctor that ran tests, which discovered a genetic illness I have, which could have caused me an early death. He is an awesome doctor and has a great bedside manner (a very funny doctor who takes time with you and does not rush).

Great doctor! He is very nice and very funny. He made me AND my husband comfortable during the visits while I was pregnant. My only complaint is sometimes the wait is very long!

I LOVE DR RUSSELL!! I came to him in an hour of need in my last 3 weeks of pregnancy for relief and he absolutely impressed me! Always helpful and made me feel right at home! He made things happen and that is what is great about him. Not all talk!

Sometimes I felt a little uncomfortable because he commented on my weight gain which I understand his reasoning and why but to be told you are gaining too much weight isn't exactly nice. Other than that I LOVED him! He has this cute thing, like when discussing the sex of the child, he says "flavor" like lets see what flavor it is.
