Just called to ask about wisdom teeth and the receptionist was very rude like I had no knowledge of what I was talking about.. Dr. Hixon just lost a patient because of her rude and disrespectful receptionist!

The receptionist was rude, did not initially say hello, pointed to clipboard to sign in. She answered the phone as I was asking a question to her.
They dental hygienist was very condescending with her exam and belittling my dental and health care. I take very good care of my teeth and my previous dentist was not this rude. I changed dentists because I no longer had my dental insurance.
.They cover everything with plastic?
I wondered if they wiped down the surfaces and machines or kept the same plastic on them.
The dentist came in and looked at my teeth briefly, and scraped the medical instrument all Along my gum because she wasn't looking at my teeth and instead was talking to the hygienist . Ouch!!!
The hygienist only cleaned my 3 back teeth, flossed only my front teeth and the whole cleaning lasted 15 minutes. I didn't like the structure of the way they made me come back for 3 different appointments . I went to the exam and the cleaning and after that last appointment, I will not be going back. Everyone there was very unprofessional and the service I received was so inadequate.

I agree with the comments below. They play heavy metal rock music over the office intercom system, which does not seem appropriate for a dentist's office. Neither the staff nor Dr. Hixson are friendly and they treat patients with a paternalistic, condescending attitude. If you have an infected, abscessed tooth, the doctor will not prescribe antibiotics until she can get you in and that may be several days even for an abscessed tooth. One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a dentist. These folks may be knowledgeable, but their social skills are seriously lacking. Patients are just a number and all the doctor seems to care about is herself.

I agree with the other comment about bedside manner although she did a great job on fixing a tooth there are other complications that were totally overlooked and i didnt even know about till recently...in fact the doctor even called a patient weird. The second appointment was for other family members and the staff argued over who an appointment was for and refused to see the other family member because they had no record of the appointment even though they did, but put it under a different name.

I live in a very small city,Belen,NM.Therefor,there aren't alot of Dr.'s to choose from. I currently recieve Medicaid for my son and my medical needs.I went in to recieve a regular cleaning of my teeth,and had some x-rays done at my first visit.I was told to return on a later date to get some fillings I needed.When I met this Dentist,she entered the room and did not even say "hello" to me.She told me I neededto get a tooth pulled,and fillings.Then,she walked out.I scheduled a 2nd appoin.and left.My 2nd visit was even worse.She entered the room with no acknowledgment to me of any kind.She said that I was going to get 1 filling that day,and would have to come back a 3rd time for another filling.I asked her why she could'nt do both and she said,"cuz I was 5minutes late to my appointment." I was shocked and told her I would not be back again.This Dentist is a rude,money hungry,prejudist,woman who is taking advantage of medicaids services. Pass it on.......
