Biography
Born in Damascus, Syria in 1957, at the age pf three moved to Lebanon with my family where I received my education including college and post graduate. I graduated from the American University of Beirut with an MS in 1984. In 1985 I attended McGill University in Montreal, Canada where I spent five years training in the field of Orthopedics and Spine Surgery. During my last year there, I spent six months in Cleveland, Ohio with Dr. A. Steffee training in complex spine surgery. I am Board Certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Board Certified with the American Board of Spine Surgery, Board Certified by the Royal college of Surgeons of Canada. I am an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) as well as a Fellow of the North American Spine Society (NASS). Ani Orthopedic Group was established in 1990. I started with one office in Hazlet, New Jersey. In 2002, I co-founded the Ambulatory Surgical Center in Old Bridge, where I was a managing partner until 2012. In 2013, Orthopedic and Spine Institute of NJ was established to concentrate more on the spine aspects of orthopedic surgery. In 2015, Ani Orthopedic Group's name was changed to Ani Medical Group and we are now a multispecialty practice with three locations. I am the current Chairman of the Department of Orthopedics at Bayshore Medical Center for a combined 10 years plus . I am also the current Chairman of the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) Program at the Bayshore Medical Center since 2016.

I have DDD and OA. I've been a patient of Dr. Ani for 12yrs and thru 6 surgeries including spinal fusions, carpal tunnel and shoulder surgeries. In every case he I came out of surgery quickly, vastly improved and pain-free. Every issue was successfully corrected. Although his staff in general are good there are some that are excellent and incredibly helpful and some, no-so-much! Further, wait times can be 15mins to 2hrs - good to unbearable. BUT! The bottom line is that his staff doesn't perform the surgeries - isn't that what's really important?
