I made a huge mistake seeing this doctor who didn't answer my questions and gave me too little information regarding the surgery he recommeneded my having. Dr. Allegra performed a minor surgey on my knee and then ignored the resulting infection for over a week. Ultimately I was told to drive myself to the emergency room because i needed surgery immediately! That minor surgery became two hospital stays and months of painful recovery. I can only say that I was lucky to survive the experience and I will always get a second opinion.

I was referred to Dr Allegra after breaking my ankle. He gave me two options, cast or surgery, since it was the beginning of summer I really didn't want to be in a cast till September. He explained with surgery I'd be standing by august 1 and true to his word I was walking again by August 4th. I had little to no pain throughout the whole experience and I would highly refer him to anyone.

November of 2013 Dr. Allegra replaced both my knees. He is an extremely caring and compassionate doctor. Unlike many in the area he was not quick to jump on surgery and tried other approaches. He told me I would know when I was ready, and I did. I decided to have them both done at the same time b/c I had a great family support system. When I finally said I needed to have this surgery we sat down to schedule my date. I knew I was in good hands b/c he told me the week I was thinking of was not good as he would be on vacation the following week and wanted to make sure he would be around for me. I don't think many doctors would have cared about that, especially b/c I would have still been in the hospital. This was one of the many reasons I choose him. First impressions are very important when you call or visit an office. Karen and Sue are extremely welcoming, caring and have always been concerned about me. I have never felt like a number or overlooked here as I have felt at other orthopedic offices in the area. The office is also very clean and comfortable. During my hospital stay I spoke to many nurses who all told me Dr. Allegra is one of the best in the area. My scars are minimal and fading every day. After the hospital sometimes I would get discouraged I couldn't do certain tasks faster and Dr. Allegra would suggest different approaches which always helped. Pain management in conjunction with PT was also key to my recovery. Dr. Allegra provided me with excellent pain care management. It has now been 7 months since my surgery and I feel like a new person.

On 1/28, I received a total hip replacement. Dr. Allegra used the transverse method for this procedure. This method resulted in less pain, and was much less invasive, compared to the normal posterior hip replacement. Dr Allegra invented this approach, and is the only known orthopedist in the area, using it. Very little pain medication was needed. As of 2/1, the only pain medication used, was tylenol. I would recommend this physician for all orthopedic needs. He is very knowledgeable in his field. Highly skilled. A great surgeon. He has treated almost every member of my family for sports injuries/orthopedic issues. By far, the best orthopedic doctor and surgeon. I would highly recommend.

This doctor did 2 surgeries on my knees. I have not had any issues since. this doctor is a great doc. I recommend him to everyone.
