I would not recommend Dr. Rike to anyone suffering from depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I was referred to her as she is covered by First Nation Health authority and was chosen for me because I stressed that I needed someone close to me for in person sessions and as she lives about 10 minutes from me, I thought she would be a great candidate. I read the reviews and while nervous, I felt relieved to find help for what I was going through as I had never utilized the help of a professional psychologist. Boy was I WRONG. Dr. Rike constantly pushed for phone sessions and due to my anxiety, I found it hard to say no, yet she kept pushing. My first phone session started with 10 minutes of her trying to deal with her horses outside while telling me she’s working on their training, VERY unprofessional. I did not appreciate the phone sessions as I didn’t find them helpful at all and she was always dealing with something else on her end (complaining about her cleaning lady, getting mad at her dog, etc.) She would also constantly have me bring up my traumas (sexual assault, abusive relationships, etc) and then end the session way too early with my shortest session being only 15 minutes (of which she billed FNHA the full hour) and then telling me I should feel better now. The final straw was when I had a suicidal breakdown and messaged her asking for an emergency session of which she agreed to a phone call ( much to my disdain but as a last minute session whatever) of which she then FORGOT to call me at the scheduled time and finally called me 2 hours later when I decided to try to seek help else where, then when I did not answer, sent me an unprofessional text stating that because I missed the phone call, she can’t help me anymore. Dr. Rike was my first attempt at finally seeking out professional help and it really put me off. I’m scared to seek out another psychologist due to this experience and probably won’t for many more years. Oh and make sure not to bring up anxiety about being able to afford school, because she will simply tell you to take out loans like she did and that you should be thankful you live in Canada because a lot of people have it worse.

Dr. Koechling is one of the most insightful and empathetic people that I have ever met. She's been incredibly helpful with my anxiety spectrum issues, as well as accompanying depression. Always available, time allowing, when I've needed to reach out for support.

Dr. Koechling is an amazing professional, and an amazing human being. I first saw her when struggling with suicidal ideation because of severe chronic pain. Because of her, my family did not lose me, and she has helped me learn to manage both the pain, with a wide range of cognitive, behavior and creative therapies, and to manage the depression, stress and anxiety that accompanies severe life long pain. I cannot speak highly enough of this compassionate, caring, consummate professional. I know that she has a background in research, that she is constantly working to stay up to date with new research, and that she does a great deal of pro bono work for people in need. This doctor is the absolute top of her field! I would recommend her to anyone struggling with the challenges of pain and disability with absolutely no caveats. I am so grateful that I found her.

My friend sees Dr Koechling twice weekly and has for five years. She always calls and checks to see how my friend is if she has a difficult session or just to check in. She made house calls when my friend was unable to leave the house and seems to give helpful advice. I am not 100% convinced that she is coaching my friend to be as independent as possible or to see themselves as anything other than a victum. This particular friend sees them self as throughly independent but had created a life that is dependent upon the therapy and is in what seems to be a state of arrested development. As this is a very good paying client for her I am somewhat concerned my friend is not getting the coaching she needs but I also understand that the patient is the only one that can make real sustainable changes. I wish them both well and hope Dr Korchling can help her.

Rike changed me from being someone who was depressed and hated life, to someone who was optimistic and a problem-solver. I trust her advice, and I like how she focuses on techniques to deal with the present - some psychologists only deal with the past.

Dr. Rike is amazing! I have been seeing her weekly for 10 months. She is very well educated and has completed cognitive research internationally. She is well worth her hourly rate, although I am aware that she has discounted and sometimes free rates under extraordinary circumstances. A phenominal mentor, she is straight forward,an excellent listener, and is never pushy. Rather than tell you what you "should" do, she provides the tools necessary to hwlp you make the appropriate decisions. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Saw her a couple of times. Very punctual. We spent 1/2 hour of the first appointment filling out and discussing legal forms, which was very intimidating. She provided practical advice and listened well. My insurance company is not covering her costs because they are "not reasonable and customary" according to other practitioners in the same area. In my opinion, her fees are just too high. I will not be returning.
