Wonderfully warm and caring doctor, and for something so invasive and personal as colonoscopies, she is as good as it gets. Seems dedicated to her patients comfort and well being. Always in good humour, and willing to answer the most trivial or in depth question. Really happy to have been referred to her, and have seen her for more than one procedure over 3 years.

I had herina surgey in the groin last week, by Dr Macgillvary, she was excellent, she explained how she would do the operation,and so on, after surgery there was no pain no swelling, a little brusin, and there was no need for medication, everything went great , she is again an excellent surgen, Great Job Dr MacGillivray. Dr. MacGillvary saved my life and I will never ever forget her, she stepped over the lines of her practice for me and just took care of me . I had breast cancer that went to stag 2 and in the lyph nodes because my Family Doctor ignored the dimpling. God bless her , you people in NS have no idea how lucky you are to have her. She is the most thoughtful caring and gentle Doctor I've ever met, I was devastated when I heard she was leaving. If you ever read this Jeannie please know you are loved and my thoughts and prayers and thankfullness are with you every day. I only hope you are happy where you are and that all is good for you because you deserve only the best, One of your patients in Guelph, GOD BLESS YOU !!!

I first saw Dr. M. 6 years ago in Guelph for cancer surgery. She was prompt, knowledgeable, empathetic, gentle, and caring both before surgery and during follow up. Yesterday I had a conversation with a woman in line while waiting to see a doctor at an after hours clinic. When we shared info about good doctors, we found that we had her in common, and we both miss her in Guelph! You are so lucky in Nova Scotia to have her!

I had two previous major surgeries, is how they were classified. I woke in recovery in unbelievable pain. So, that was my biggest fear! Dr. MacGillvary believes in giving a lot of local anaesthetic so that doesn't happen. I can attest, I went in at 8 am and had no pain, whatsoever, until 4 pm!!!! Which was awesome because I was at home and had oral painkillers. I must also state that although my other surgeries left minor scars that are not apparent. Her incision was very kind. It left a 'sad' face above my belly button, which is great considering that after four children and the two previous surgeries, I had no marks on my belly. She is awesome!!!!!!

Very good experience with a hernia operation. Dr. MacGillivray has the right stuff both in the operating room and at the bedside.

I have been to see Dr. MacGillvary for a proctology exam. This is one caring and knowledgeable doctor. The only word to describe this doctor is awesome. I agree with a previous person's rating. We are very lucky that she chose St. Martha's to practice at. Please stick around, there are not many surgeons that have it all. You do.
