Went to see Dr. Hyder for 2nd opinion. He was great; open, straightforward, and took the time to answer my questions. Went back to see him again. Waited for 1 hour in a freezing exam room. He never showed up, and no one came to tell me he'd be late. Walked out.

The odd part of this practice is there does not appear to be anything happening in this office. Very few patients, no activity, and thus no apparent reason for his not showing up.

My conclusion is that he's a good doctor, with a lousy office staff. If you have all day to wait, see him. If your time has any value, go elsewhere.

Sent my dad home with a pus-filled, necrotic gallbladder, scheduled a removal for five days later, and told us a different doctor was “unavailable” when they were just on call at a different facility. We had to take him to a different ER later that night because he was in so much pain. Come to find out he was hours away from sepsis and would probably have died from septic shock had he waited until his scheduled surgery. Seems like money was put over a patient’s well-being.

In my opinion, Dr. Hyder is the best surgeon in Wichita. He has done my grandmother's hernia surgery, my mom's hernia surgery, my brother's hernia surgery, and my hernia surgery. There is no surgeon that I trust as much as Dr. Hyder and when he retires I don't know what I will do for any future needs. He is the type of physician who listens to the patient and works to discover the underlying cause and the best course of treatment. I really can't recommend him enough for anyone with gut issues.

I went for a routine colonoscopy. By his own admission he spent four times longer digging inside of me than a normal colonoscopy and put my formerly excellent heart into a cardiac event. It seems I now have permanent heart damage. Now I ask, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

DR Hyder is a very skilled surgeon. He has done a couple of surgeries on me & I have had no problems. He answered any questions i had & sat down with me before each surgery & explained everything that he was going to do. No worries.

He is known for having the highest no. of post surgery infections in this area. He "mistakenly" sewed my stomach draining tube shut after a hernia surgery. I ended up with two more surgeries and in one of those he severed my abdominal muscles. My neighbors daughter had an emergency appendix surgery and ended up because of post surgery infection with a colostomy bag. I have heard horrible stories and the nurses in surgery have told me horrible stories about him and have no respect for him at all. Do not gamble your life with him.

I an emergency gall ball bladder removal in 1998 and an emergency coloscopy in 1999. He was very informative, empathatic, caring and obviously had my health in it's best interest. He's a wonderful caring doctor and surgeon!
