I met with Dr. Hwang in early October about the "snap, crackle, and pop" of both of the thumb joints. He told me that I had bone-on-bone arthritis, and I would eventually come to him and say that it hurt enough that I wanted surgery. I immediately told him just that. My first surgery was November 10th, an arthroplasty of the carpometacarpal joint and a D'Quervain's release. Physical therapy followed within a month, and on February 2nd (just over three months later), he performed the same surgery on my right hand. I could not be happier with the results, and would recommend him to anyone for hand surgery -- especially to other musicians who are worried about losing motor skills in the hands.

Dr. Hwang performed a shoulder surgery on my son that was unsuccessful. Shoulder continues to dislocate on it's own after the surgery. In the process now of finding a new surgeon to fix the problem this time. I cannot recommend after a failed surgery.

After being treated for nearly a year by my physician, I was referred to him, and before the end of our first visit, he knew exactly what was wrong with me. Great doctor. I was fully healed within two months of being referred.
