Now, the primary reason for my visit was my throat. Dr Vasak told me everything looked normal and that I just have "large tonsils." When I mentioned I have never heard that before she proceeded to say "I wish I hadn't said that" multiple times in a very defensive tone as if she couldn't be bothered to even deal with me. I have never been treated so disrepectfully by a medical professional in my life. When she left my room (I could hear into the hallway) she whispered something, another nurse started laughing and then she stated "Don't laugh, it's not funny. I've had a long week and don't want to deal with this" She does not care about her patients and she belittles you! I highly recommend finding another Dr!!

Dr Vasak makes life HARDER on her patients. I DO NOT recommend her to anyone! She doesn't return phone calls! She doesn't visit her patients in the hospital! She refuses to call in prescriptions! She doesn't care for her patients! She complains when you visit a specialist instead of her, but when you try to visit her she makes it impossible. She is completely useless!

Unfortunately, a friend of mine has advised me that Dr. Vasak has been absolutely horrible over the last few months especially for care of his dying grandmother. According to him, Dr. Vasak had been denying visits, making impossible demands, and for 10 days when his poor, frail grandmother was in the hospital (which is right across the street from her office), Dr. Vasak did NOT visit her once, after repeated phone calls from her caregivers, nurses, and medical staff. Additionally, her entire staff contends that Dr. Vasak is a superb physician. Unfortunately, Dr. Vasak should be given a lesson in common courtesy and common decency for this type of behavior. We are talking about a life here. Shame on you, Dr. Vasak. I am going to make a formal complaint with the Board of St. John's Hospital for this terrible and dismissive behavior.

Ever since the HMO model of medical practice corrupted the doctor-patient relationship into "how many patients can you see in one hour," I've had doctors who've been unapologetically late to see me, rushed through the consultation while keeping one eye on the wristwatch, and have left me wondering if he/she had actually understood, or cared about, my concern. A friend recommended Dr. Vasak. Not only was she ready to see me soon after my arrival, but when she entered the room introduced herself, shook my hand, sat down in front of me and asked me to explain the reason for my visit. She listened, asked questions, examined, and advised. It was an unhurried doctor's visit reminiscent of the good ol' before-HMO days. I went home feeling that I'd made the right decision in turning to her for help. Today I have uninhibited praise for Dr. Vasak and I highly recommend her to anyone in search of a physician that he or she can trust. (Her staff juggles many duties = no time for chit-chat.)

Dr. Vasak is the most competent and kind doctor I've been treated by in LA--after 20 years searching for an Internist. Her office manager is very efficient as well--perhaps those who find fault with her treat her as "the office girl".

Dr. Vasak is the best.Very knowledgeable, spends time with me as needed & is the only doctor I have had that returns all calls & calls me with test results. She doesn't take my insurance but I get reimbursed most of it so its well worth paying a little extra to see a great doctor. I feel I should also respond to the earlier negative comments by another patient. First, Dr. Vasak is so non-celebrity it's laughable that you say that. Besides horrible reimbursements, the primary reason she dropped insurances is to spend more time with patients by being able to schedule less patients. As for the mis-diagnosis, guess what? She's not a gynecologist although I'd bet Dr. Vasak is the one who referred you to see a gynecologist. As for the office staff, she is capable enough. Don't confuse rudeness with just being a quiet person. She's not the warmest person but she's definitely not rude. Dr. Vasak is very respected & is chief of medicine at St.John's, a top hospital,& that says volumes.

She is wonderful and frank, but it's a bummer she no longer takes insurance. Some people may not like her straighforward demeanor, but I love it. Her office staff, like most office staff of docs, is not great. Nothing unusual there.

Not only are her front desk people unintelligent and incompetent (which I believe IS a reflection on the quality of care), I was VERY disappointed with Dr. Vasak herself. On my last visit to her (which was my LAST visit), she was rushed, rude, and unresponsive to any of my questions. She also misdiagnosed me (revealed later by my gynecologist) on 2 accounts. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS! And they do no longer take insurance, which in LA usually means she is only interested in treating celebrities. I certainly was treated like I was back-door help.

I have seen Dr. Vasak for 3 years and even though she no longer takes insurance (i.e. I have to submit my reinbursement on my own) I continue to see her because she has an awesome ability to communicate and she is ALWAYS willing (and takes the time) to answer any questions. She also never disregards any symptom I mention and takes the extra time to test me or examine me more even though it is really just a precaution. As for the front-desk help, she is not so helpful, is sometimes inadvertently rude, and is not that knowledgeable. But because I think Dr. Vasak is so great, I put up with it because I do not think it is a reflection of Dr. Vasak's talent at all.

I was told by her staff that she could see me with my type of insurance and when I showed up the office girl denied me and closed the window on me which she had done with a previous patient she was arguing with. This show's how a doctor's office is run, who know's what happens in the back when she see's her patients.
