Kalia was an incredible gift to us during our pregnancy and delivery. She was patient and gentle with us and able to hold space for our typical pregnancy worries, as well as speak to and help us get treatment for legitimate concerns. Our appointments were rich and never rushed and Kalia's calm presence was reassuring in preparation and especially at the birth. Her support enabled us to have a beautiful birth in the hospital and her after care was fantastic.

Kalia made our pregnancy and delivery an incredible experience. She welcomed me and my husband as a team, helping us both feel comfortable and taking the time to address all of our questions. She walked us calmly through anxious moments, and when the time came to deliver, she was our safe place. After delivery, she gave thorough and knowledgeable post-natal care, with patience and warmth. She was part of one of the most beautiful moments of our lives and we'll never forget her.

I felt bad about my experience with Kalia Leslie, but only because i didn't get to deliver with her, at the very last second! We had to move, on baby's due date, and we decided to just move and have the baby in the new town after we moved, if he would hold on (which he did, til the morning after the move). Anyway, Kalia was a wealth of information, very tolerant of my somewhat flaky desires (i did go on to have two home waterbirths), and was a wonderful, professional, warm woman. She was a godsend during my pregnancy, and that was with my fourth. I've bought her excellent antibleed tincture for every pregnancy since, since it works so well - and i'm still using her vitamin recommendations that are more helpful to me than any prescribed medication. Her suggestions were 100% right on, and i really appreciated having the option to have a midwife's care (45 min appointments) as opposed to a doctor's (the one previous to her was abusive in many ways).

I did not like Kalia. She was cold and unfriendly. I left appointments feeling bad about myself. She seemed burnt out and needed to rethink her career.

My experience with Kalia was excellent in all aspects of my care. I found Kalia to be a wealth of knowledge who pursued absolute excellence. I was well informed of my choices, decision's and supported within those. I had two home births under her care. My family was treated well and she even took the time to educate my older daughters in a soft motherly way about what to expect and how they could be involved. My older girls were included and Kalia accommodated my every move during the labour and delivery process. She was encouraging, kind, helpful, resourceful and most of all, supportive of our home birth decisions. I would recommend Kalia to any one considering a home birth in the Kelowna area.

I felt that Kalia was quite cold and not very personable for a midwife. We ended up switching midwives at 36 weeks because we did not feel she was making much effort to meet our wishes. She really jerked us around about the home birth we wanted and constantly told us she "might be there, might not." We really got the feeling that Kalia does not really want to do home births and is not very supportive of them. She did not make us feel much of a connection with her, and we would not have trusted her to deliver our baby which is why we decided to switch over so late in the pregnancy. It seems like Kalia is tired and needing a break from her career and it is showing in her work and care. I never felt like she was making an effort to get to know us, or to really listen to what was important to us, and these are qualities that I believe are very important in a midwife.

I received excellent care and attention from her. My visits were minimum 45 minutes long and she was very helpful, professional, calm and not "flakey" :) A wonderful caring person and midwife. I wanted as little institutional intervention as possible but in a hospital just in case and she "delivered". Highly recommended.
