I am a worker' comp adjuster and we do use Dr. Weiss for neurological issues when able, not because we buy him off, but because he is direct and to the point and he is very honest when he sees someone over dramatizing their injury. He can only go by what the MRI shows and if there is nothing there to explain the symptoms, what else can you do? At least he is not one of these quacks that only cares about how much money he can get and tries to do surgery unecessarily to make an extra buck. If people really think insurance companies can buy a doctor off, they are sadly mistaken. We aren't trying to get out of what we owe, we are trying to pay for only what we owe and not something that is not related to work.

Dr. Weiss works for the insurance company and not the patient. He does not know what he is talking about and makes up lies. He does not spend time with the patient to ask questions and do a medical exam. He thinks everyone is putting on a performance and will state so in his report to workers comp. Because of Dr.'s like him insurance companies are changing their policies on covering back injuries. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this Dr. Weiss for anything. My husband has bulging disc and his work duties call for him to lift 75+ pds. Dr. Weiss released him to go back to full duties without a medical exam and stated he gave a really dramatic performance. Luckily, we already have a great Dr. that knows what is truly wrong and is doing everything to correct the back problems. Dr. Weiss is an independent medical examiner hired by workman's comp to say what they want him to say. Dr. Weiss should not be allowed to practice medicine.

I find that if he can get you into surgery then he has all the answers. However what I did not like when it came to my ex-rays he just ran through them and told what surgery he can do. Did not show the problem just put x-ray up after ex-ray and said how he can do surgery. And so I am thinking for what, i am in a lot of pain and do not know what the real problem and this idiot wants to do surgery with no real explanation. To him I look real stupid, easy and desperate. That I may be to him. But no one should suggest surgery without showing why the surgery is need. So to make long short I have not confidence in him and will never return.

I left Dr Weiss's office in tears. This is one of the rudest men I've ever met. I thoutht he was obnoxious because I'm a workers comp patient until I read other comments on this site. I requested a different doctor after Dr. Gray Stalhman literally got in my face and yelled at me. When Dr. Weiss asked me why I wanted a second opion, I told him. He was obviously upset by what I said about Dr. Stalhman. He did a two minute examination. Took another two minutes to look at my MRI then said, "I'm a surgen. there's nothing I can do for you. You had one of the best doctors in Nashville. You'll heal with time." When I asked him about continuing physical thearpy he said, "I don't think it'll do you any good." When I told him the pain medication Dr. Stalhman gave me had side effects he rudely said, "Quit taking it." I'm a 50 year old Kindergarten teacher and I have never been treated so rudely in my life

In 2000, my mother had an aneurysm rupture in her brain. She was life-flighted to St Thomas, and by a stroke of luck, Dr. Weiss performed emergency brain surgery. He SAVED HER LIFE. Excellent doctor. Don't confuse his serious demeanor for poor bedside manners. He is THE BEST, my family and I are endebted to him.

Dr. Weiss did a back operation for me 11/03. I had been having trouble since 7/03. All I can say is that until the surgery I was miserable. When I woke up, I was not instantly better, but the ongoing pain in my leg was gone. I found him to be likeable but honest and business like. He got me in to see a great physical therapist after my operation and the two of them had me back on my feet in a matter of 4-6 weeks. I saw Dr. Weiss again in another hospital when I was visiting someone, about 3 yrs later, and he remembered my name! At first encounter he seems just a bit challenging, but there's a genius at work there. If you have a problem that's workable, I'll bet he can help you.
