Had a colonoscopy with Dr. Cheung yesterday at RCH and as I was very nervous about the potential results he put my mind at ease right away and was calm and explained everything going on. I am very nervous in hospitals and he definitely put my mind and anxiety at ease and would not hesitate to see him again.

I'm really happy with the fantastic care I got from the Dr. Justin Cheung. Right from the start, their friendly staff made me feel at home. Dr. Cheung’s deep knowledge and clear communication set me at ease. Dr. Cheung did a thorough exam and explained things in a way that made sense. The treatment plan they came up with was personalized just for me, and they made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. The team's dedication to my well-being means a lot to me. Because of them, my digestive health has improved and I feel really satisfied. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who needs great gastrointestinal care.

Severe acid reflux for 5 years. Tells me I need to loose weight. I tell him I can't and am already eating about 1000-1500 calories per day, I should be loosing weight but it isn't happening. Well, keep trying! was his response. I've had more than one doctor request a colonscopy from him over three years ago. Have I had that test yet? No! Because he seems to know best and I just need to try and diet more. Turns out I have MS and my GI tract has been horrifically affected. I was one of the first symptoms that came about five years ago. My GI tract is so broken but he offered no insight because it was easier for him to judge, make assumptions and gaslight. Unless you've got something straight forward, I would stay far away from this doc, especially as a female. His ego seems to be so inflated that I wonder how he is actually capable of performing his job.

Only met dr Cheung once most of the time its his receptionist relaying information. He's impossible to get ahold even during a crisis. I was in bad shape due to side effects if medication he prescribed, but no one got back to me for 3 days of misery. Gave up and called my family doctor who told me to stop taking it (even though medical sheet says not to stop taking it).
Finally his receptionist called back after explaining my predicament she consulted the Cheung and called me back telling me they would try a different medication. I don't like most doctors nowadays but he takes the cake.

Very arrogant and rude and doesn't seem to have the time to talk to you or go through any of your questions. Feel like a victim every time. Not impressed at all.

My family physician ordered a colonoscopy and gastroscopy, so I only met Dr. Cheung in the hospital for the procedures. He wasn't the warmest person, and seemed skeptical of my reason for being there. It's possible he was annoyed or rushed because they had originally thought I was there for only one scope (even though my paperwork said otherwise). I've had a colonoscopy before, and it was a much better experience - doctor had a better bedside manner, and no pain after. I had pain this time - not sure if the doctor used a regular scope, when other doctors sometimes choose a children's size for females.

In addition, he never introduced the nurse, a male who made me really uncomfortable when he stood at the end of my bed and was pressing his stomach/pelvic area against my feet until I pulled them away (I'm short, and he was not a big guy, so there was no reason for the closeness. Nor was he reaching for anything or adjusting anything at the time). My rating reflects the doctor only, but I added this for anyone who ever feels uncomfortable in a situation - remember that you can choose to just say "I need a minute" no matter how terse or rushed a doctor seems.

Overall, Dr. Cheung got the job done, but it was not a good experience for me.

Very, very difficult to communicate with staff. Next to impossible to book an appointment in -person or by phone. The office never returns voicemail messages. They never call back. They make false promises to call back. Very incompetent and medical negligence on their part.

I have had UC for 30 years and quite a few GI's that have been very good to pretty much useless. I am delighted to say that Dr Cheung is one of the best. He is very approachable, knowledgeable and open to finding solutions that work, especially in a tough case like mine. He has a great manner about him and always makes me feel at ease and reassured. I highly recommend him.
