I had many surgeries years ago at truman and they did nothing for me but make my life bad. Dr. Hucks saved my life and without him I would have been dead by now. Its true he is a little harsh at first but it gets better with time with him. He will meet you half way if you meet him half way. What people don't realize the man has to be a little cold in order to do the things he does.

Dr. Hux has a horrible bedside manner and is extremely arrogant. When I saw him in 2011 with my YEAR OLD MRI, he insisted he did not need a more recent MRI. After a FAILED MICRODISCECTOMY, he sent me for a new MRI which showed additional loose debris he had not removed. Second surgery was needed asap and was a spinal fusion which resulted in FAILED BACK SURGERY. I was also not medicated for pain after the second surgery because the pain pump line was 'broken' and not releasing medication. It took hours for him to believe me and finally check the pump. In addition, I became infected with MSSA following the second surgery. This resulted in THREE more surgeries and 8 weeks of IV antibiotics to remove infection. Not only is he a horrible doctor, he is an egotistical a$$. To this day, I suffer from having had him as my doctor.

Regarding my experience with Dr. Hux; He was insulting and incredibly egotistical. Only relied on the MRI details to conclude presumption and never referred to my x-rays. Never asked me to show him where my pain was and rolled his eyes and turned away when I tried to explain what I was experiencing. After I asked him if he was even listening to me he explained that I interrupted him and that I was telling him how to do his job. I suggested that part of his job is to listen to his “CUSTOMER”. He called me an “arrogant jerk” and after I told him I was leaving he followed me through the office provoking me and shoulder butting me. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone and suggest you look for other reviews on line. Steve Glakeler

Dr wilkinson was my husbands original doctor. Over the weekend dr Hux filled in. He has a horrible bedside manner! At one point my in laws were visiting my husband in ICU, dr Hux came in and my mother in law told him she wanted to get me. He ignored her and talked over her. By the time got back there he was with another patient. I told the nurse I had some questions to ask the doctor. He said shouldn't be a problem because dr Hux was still in ICU. Told the nurse that if he couldn't come back to answer questions he could call me. Dr Hux said he was too busy to talk to me! I was appalled! Had to wait 24 hours to get questions answered! When I did finally meet him he was abrasive, loud and obnoxious! He doesn't listen to your concerns. Doesn't care about the patient. He also put dr Wilkinson down for wanting to do an angioplasty on my husband. I felt that was unprofessional. I didn't have any confidence in him or his ability to treat my husband. He told me I was an overprotective wife!

I have nothing but the highest regard for Dr Hux. When others were not able (basically refused) to help me after previous failed surgery with another surgeon in Kansas City, only telling me that my back was too bad for surgery and nothing could be done, Dr Hux helped me and I now have my life back. Amazing surgeon, Amazing man. I felt like a walking pharmacy before I met Dr Hux, always doped up with all the pills the doctors prescribed me to "treat my back pain" and sent me on my way. I am happy to say that not only was surgery a great success, but I have continued to get better. Although I was hesitant at first, Dr Hux got me off all those pills and I feel like myself again as I have my life back. It was a long road but I could not be more pleased.

Horrible bedside manner! Didn't introduce himself, spoke over the top of what I was trying to explain, and very rudely. I had an accident in 03, but fell in a store from H2O on the floor in Aug'11, I had enjoyed a very active lifestyle prior to my fall. He blamed my smoking & my accident in 03 to my recent severe back pain. He gave 4 different answers to 1 question asked 4 times. He suggested epidural shots, which I explained had actually put me down unable to even stand for days, he said that shouldn't happen but that is what he suggested I get, 3 more shots...and physical therapy. I can't stand for longer than 10 min at a time without horrible pain. My own dr sent me to him, due to the MRI being severe-tears, herniated&bulging disks..he prescribed me a med that the common side effects are sucidal&hostile thoughts, uncontrollable muscle/eye/speach movements, amnesia and insomnia. This dr has no time for you, your concerns, or your treatment. I wouldn't send my enemies to him.
