Watch out for this group. They were charging every patient a $19 'surcharge' for masks and gloves. Long story, but between my husband and I taking kids in on different days, I didn't pay this fee and he did. Months later I received a bill for the 'unpaid' family members. When I checked with my insurance provider, they said the dentist is *contractually prohibited* from surcharging patients. When we called back, armed with that info, they suddenly waived the bill (complete with multiple 'late fees'). I asked for a refund of the money they were not authorized to charge in the first place. They refused. My insurance provider called as well. They sent us to voicemail and never replied. After weeks of calls from me the insurer, and the threat of an audit, they sent me a refund along with a letter that we need to find a new dentist (as if). This says something quite tremendous about the ethics and business practices of this office. The nasty letter also contained a veiled threat to not damage their reputation. Not a concern. Their actions damage their reputation, not me for sharing the story.

Every office visit resulted in another appointment to fix the new problem. The appointment for the new problem inevitably led to another new appointment. Several friends told us they had the same experience and recommended we switch to a dentist in Midway. Then we received a bill after having paid in full already. The staff was unable to explain the charge. They had no idea what it was. Two years later, after receiving multiple invoices, I paid the charge to make it stop.

This was the best dental visit I have ever had. The staff was extremely polite and courteous! Dr. Trout was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Mellissa did a great job on my teeth. I left feeling like a million bucks and had a smile to match! Found me a new dentist!!! I highly recommend them.

Dr. Trout IS well known but not all good. and I was warned about overcharging. Very pricy and Highly disappointed in quality of work. Perhaps minor filling is his limit. Had 3 crowns done, 1 new, 2 replacements of childhood crowns only to find out I will now need 2 root canals possibly because he overworked both teeth. I called to let them know I was having infection and unusual pain they sent me to someone else said he didn't have time to see me and already knew I needed a specialist. Staff was hard to deal with doc would not see me. Husband went to talk to them and they recanted their story as if I was the one being difficult when they should have shown better customer service to a patient in pain. Claimed I was told the possible outcome. Ah, no! With their high fees I know have maxed ins. benefits and got Care credit for $1200 to complete, I have no money for 2 root canals and will most likely have to remain in pain until next year. in tears and in pain. Choose wisely and beware!!!

Do not recommend!! I was seen by his office and have not been able to chew on the left side of my mouth for the past 4 months! The office refuses to fix the problems or compensate for the $429 damage done to my teeth.

Dr. Trout separated from Smile Innovations dental practice in 2010.  The negative reviews posted on this website do not reflect his practice management style or dedication to patient quality of care.  He is a very good dentist and has been practicing in the area for over 23 years (longer than any other area Dentist.)  His new practice is called "Dental Wellness Center" and he has an office in Richmond Hill and in Jesup.  His staff is wonderful and very helpful.  He accepts over 16 different insurance plans and works with his patients financially to ensure that you can take care of your dental health needs.  His new practice website is: www.dentalwellnesscentergeorgia.com and his new practice number is: 912-445-5337.  (The other contact information found on this site is not correct.)

This place is way over priced!! I paid $400.00 dollars for my daughter to get 2 teeth pulled. The insurance also paid about the same. I just had a collection agency call me and said that I owed another $140. They were very rude to me. I can't believe that I would have to pay so much for 2 teeth pulled. Beware of this place. I was lied to about how much I would have to pay.
