What can I say about Gary Monkarsh? In short he is compassionate, relate-able, and understanding. He tells me what I need to hear that I've overlooked in my situation, and has reminded me of psychology terms I've forgotten. His office is relaxing, and he really lets you put what's troubling you on the table. In that respect getting started is always easy because it's kind of the typical "And how does that make you feel?". Yet after that it really becomes a very communicative feel. I'm given a new perspective on my situation, and given suggestions & tools to work with my problems. We spend out life putting our self under a microscope, and he has helped me pull myself back out. The pay is cheep, the hours nice, and the help is what you need not just what you want to hear.

Gary has been a kind, gentle ear. I've seen him on and off for over 6 years. He has aided my grieving process and helped me be a better wife and mother of two teenagers (a difficult time even with good kids) while managing a complex career. He is compassionate yet firm and I've experienced very postive results from his counseling. I recommend him completely.

He took a phone call during the session (personal) and got up to look at his phone every time it rang. He made me feel uncomfortable and was very judgemental. Wasn't really interested in talking to my son. Kept question any answer I gave him as if I were being dishonest. Usually if you are expecting someone to lie to you you are usually projecting. He was very interested in getting paid. he gave my a quote that was way off what the insurance company had said, actually 2x what the insurance had quoted. When I question he change the amount. Then charged me a large amount for the first visit and said that is how they do it. He asked if I wanted a reciept, I said yes and then he said he wasn't able to print one. So I have no reciept of payment and not copy of the service bill, he send that to the insurance. Took 1/2 a day off work and wasted a lot of money. PS my mom is a phychologist. I didn't tell him that, but called her immidiately. She was appalled.

I have been a patient of Dr. Gary Monkarsh for seven years. He has been instrumental in helping me to recieve my full VA benefits for PTSD. Dr. Monkarsh always has my best interests at heart and provides great advice on how to live a healthy lifestyle. I would recommend Dr. Monkarsh to anyone.

Dr. Monkarsh was incredibly caring, and generous with his time. He gave me a sliding-fee scale because he knew I couldn't pay his regular fees. He taught me ways to reduce my anxiety, and his great sense of humor made me feel at ease. He helped me overcome my depression as well. I would recommend him highly.

My family have been seeing Dr. Monkarsh for several years. I think he is a very skilled therapist in addition to being a kind, and compassionate human being. He has personally helped me move from a state of suffering when I first started with him, to a place of emotional and physical health and balance. I read his "orientation and approach" in his website, and chose him because I liked what I read. For me, he has truly lived up to what he has written. I have found him to be very knowledgeable and helpful with a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, spirituality and relaxation techniques. An added bonus is his professional and relaxing office, his efficient staff, and his private and peaceful location with easy parking and a great coffee/tea shop close by.

Dr. Monkarsh is a true professional. He is a great listener and very helpful in offering practical tools to use in a variety of situations. He is fantastic at remembering personal details, asking excellent questions, and giving positive perspectives to different situations.
